"And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the LORD." - Zechariah 10:12

Let us do all things in the name of the Lord and for His glory. We are commanded to do this in the New Testament.

 

For example, in Colossians we find these verses:
"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him... And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;" (Col. 3:17, 23)

Here is a recent thought I had regarding doing things in His name. We call ourselves Christian, and so essentially we carry His name with us everywhere, like the verse you quoted from Zechariah. However, when we then go and do things that are not godly, are we not taking His name in vain?

I agree with gottsegnet, though I never really thought about it that way before. I'm afraid I need lots of work in that area, I'll try to keep this at the top of my mind. Wich reminds me of a verse in Ephesians 5:1
