Apple and Cinnamon ornaments
Posted in sewing, knitting, crochet and other crafts
Apple and cinnamon scents complete the warm and cozy winter feelings.

These made the whole house smell delightful when we made them.
Thank you Tracy at Unless The Lord for the wonderful idea and recipe.

I'm addicted to yarn!
Posted in sewing, knitting, crochet and other crafts
I think I need to start a yarn blog or at least a blog for knitting and crocheting. I need a place other than ravelry to share my projects. =) By the way ravelry is a wonderful site. The site is still in BETA so you have to get on a waiting list. It is well worth the wait!
I've been diligently crocheting gifts so I haven't had much time to blog or do much else online except for checking on a message board group and then to stop by my facebook page and play a word on my on going scrabble games with friends. If I have anymore time I'll read the blogs in my feedreader.
I've been taking pictures of my projects... now just need a place to put 'em.
Hmmmm.... well... maybe tonight while hubby is working I'll set-up a blog just for my yarn fetish.

Crochet anyone?
Posted in sewing, knitting, crochet and other crafts
I've been busy crocheting Christmas gifts. It provides some much needed relaxation during the day. It also gives me a chance to pray for the people that I making the gift for.
I've been making placemats, dishcloths and pot holder sets. I'd share patterns, but I've just done my own. They are simple, but nice. If I am begged, then I guess I can share.
When I get a few more done I'll post some pictures. =)

I'm addicted to yarn
Posted in sewing, knitting, crochet and other crafts
What a lovely Tuesday.
I went and bought a bunch of yarn again today. I'm making Christmas gifts. I really have to to start to knit or crochet things from my stash. I find myself buying yarn because its on sale and I really like it. Then it sits in the rubbermaid totes. I really should declare to not buy anymore yarn - to only knit or crochet from my stash.
How about you? If you knit or crochet - are you addicted to yarn?? Do you buy something because you can picture it as the perfect scarf, shawl or blanket?

Nursing covers (pictures)
Posted in sewing, knitting, crochet and other crafts
I finished my nursing covers last Friday. I can't wait to start using them!
Below is "Rusty." He is my model. He was a gift from my husband and the bear is as big as I am, but I'm about 4 inches taller than he and I am 5'7"! (He is also wider than I...)
To make the breastfeeding covers I draped some fabric over me to get an idea of how big I wanted them. Then I made the straps. I also made a 3 inch seam at the top. The frog one that Rusty is wearing is made out of flannel. Oh, how I like sewing with flannel! I also couldn't resist the cute frogs! This will be a nice cover for the winter time. Nice and warm for baby and I. I just might have to get some more flannel. The left over frog fabric I'll be making a blanket. I'll just hem the sides and sew. Easy!

These are the other fabrics I used.
Left: Roses. Middle: The frogs. Right: Dots.

Nursing Covers
Posted in sewing, knitting, crochet and other crafts
In one of my previous posts I tried to describe a nursing cover that I saw a lady using. I wanted to try making one. (I haven't yet...lol) Anyway, I asked if anyone knew of a pattern in The Christian Homeschool Corner and one of the ladies came up with a link to Bebe au Lait. If you go to their gallery it shows more of them.
These are very close to what the lady had. I think they are simple and lovely.
I have some scrap fabric here that I'm not fond of, so I'll use that to play around with making my own cover. I have about 2 weeks, give or take, so I should get moving! I'll probably make a couple of them in fabrics that fit "me."
I'll post pictures of the finished product... as soon as I can find the battery charger for my digital camera...
