And ANOTHER adoption rant
Posted in Family
Would someone please explain to me WHY? I have to be a licensed foster parent AFTER I have adopted my children. I have really had all Im going to take of this. I have to renew my foster care license. The whole joy of closing my home was I would not have to worry about health inspections, classes and monthly visits, now they say oh yes you do for at least 90 days after the adoption. Im thinking about taking my kids and moving to Canada as soon as the adoption is complete just so the state wont be part of my life anymore. Im so sick of this. Every day its just one more thing and its all because people cant do thier jobs. If I screwed up at my job everyday, when I was working, I would have been fired. It makes no sense. Believe me when I tell you I am recording this adoption experience and once it is finalized I will be sending letters to as many people as I can. The sad part is we were hoping that one day we could adopt more foster children, but now we wont be doing that. NOPE! At least not from the state. I almost got my license through our local Baptist Children's Home, but decided not to at the last minute because our state license came through. Now I find out that two or three people who adopted from the Baptist Children's Home breezed right through it. Of course I would not have the kids I have now, so I thank God for that.
I will try to write some more later about our Easter trip. We had a blast. :)

Apr. 19, 2006 - We attempted adoption once - Never again
Posted by kate3boys
I live in South Carolina. Once my first son was born, my husband and I decided that we would not have any additional children via natural birth. Our first born was a very difficult birth for me. So, after careful consideration, we decided to adopt from our state. There is such a high demand to find homes for black children in this state, that the state will pay the entire cost of the adoption. They have classified them as special needs children. So we wanted to adopt up to two or three children into our home to complete our family. Black, white or hispanic.
So, anyway, we began the process. We were shocked!!! The paper work that was involved was insane. What color is your mothers eyes, your father's eyes, what is their hair color, etc. Then came all the inspections of the house, fianances, religious beliefs, discipline beliefs, water testing and the list goes on. On average, it take 1.5 years in the state of south carolina to adopt.
We went to dinner one evening during the process and things did not set well with my spirit. We found out shortly after that, that we were pregnant again.
Now, we have three biological children and would like to consider adopting a little girl, but the cost is too high. We wanted to go international, but that is way too expensive even with sponsership. To adopt locally, is also expensive and I do not faith in the local state services sponsoring adoptions. So, here is another family that would have considered opening their home to a child in need of parents. (It would complete our family and I am no longer able to have children.)
I am glad that you got your children and you are right, they are a blessing from GOD. I just wish that the states would not make it so difficult to adopt these precious children.
