Merry Christmas

Posted in Homemaking

Yes, I am getting ready for Christmas. Yes, I am uber organized super mom. Yes, I have all my decorations color coordinated. Yes, I have all my Christmas cards addressed and waiting to be sent, along with a detailed entertaining, witty news about our family and a perfect family picture. HAHAHAHAHA if you know me you can pick yourself up off the ground and stop laughing. If you dont know me you can quit rolling your eyes. No the above person is not me. Promise.

I am however planning my holidays now with the help of Mrs. Catherine and OrganizedChristmas.com. I used part of OC last year and really enjoyed it, though Im looking forward to using it a lot more this year. My advice: check out these sights and see if you aren't inspired to begin planning your Christmas now.

Busy Week

Posted in Homemaking

Well we are almost recovered from vacation. I just found a bag of dirty clothes one of the girls brought in and put in thier room. NICE.

On vacation I set some goals for each month and I am busy finishing up July's goals. For July I wanted to finish stripping the border paper in the playroom, set up our new laundry system, and keep the kitchen clean.

I have the wallpaper stripped, the kitchen is fairly clean and Im finishing up setting up the laundry system today.

The laundry system consists of two hampers being set up by the washer and dryer. They each have three compartments.

1. Whites

2. Denim, blues and reds

3. All other colors

4. Towels and dishrags

5. Sheets

6. Delicates and things that need to be hung up to dry

Each child will have a small laundry basket. Every other day or so that child will bring the laundry basket to the garage and sort thier clothes. When a hamper is full it will be washed, dryed, items placed into a seperate basket for each child who will then be required to fold and put away thier clothing. Towels, sheets and ect will be assigned to a child as they come out of the dryer. Hopefully, this will minimize the dirty clothes in thier rooms. Im also going to go through and minimize thier clothing. I have a list of how many clothes each child will have and I will post that when the day comes to do it.

I have taken time this week to plan my next round of curriculum as well. In the next three months we will be finishing up our current stuff at different times and we have decided to move on to the next level immediatly. Im only doing school twice a week in November and December and we are taking one week off in November and two weeks in December. I have decided to switch handwriting programs from Zaner-Bloser one stroke to A Reason For Handwriting. The children copy Bible verses and its a lot less expensive while it has fairly the same style as far as I can tell. We finish up ZB early August so I plan to go get the ARFH books this week. Im starting Kelsie in the 1st grade book and Karly in the 2/3rd grade transition book. In August I will also be getting Spelling Workout C for Karly and Spelling Workout A for Kelsie. When Kelsie finishes her Saxon Phonics K we will move into Spelling Workout A for her. I went ahead and planned the rest of the year through March or I guess I should say started planning. I have Math planned through March for both girls.

Well I have rambled long enough and I think DH is almost done with the chili cheese fries I requested for lunch.... MMMM.
