Jun. 15, 2006 - Do the next thing

Some days I feel like Eeyore...a bit glum, not for any particular reason...just glum.  I've learned to recognize it and most importantly, not give into it.  When I feel like curling up on the couch in my jammies with the blinds closed, I know I need to take a shower, get dressed and get moving.  Doing what I feel like doing only leads to a bigger cloud.  Instead, I put on the praise music and simply do the next thing.  I ask myself, if I were feeling great, what would be the next thing on my list?  Then, despite how I may be feeling, that is exactly what I do.  After awhile of doing the next thing, I find the cloud has lifted and Eeyore is gone.

That's what I'm doing today...just the next thing.

I can totally relate sometimes. I have a variety of lists to call upon during those times when I don't want to do anything. These lists help me stay focused and get out of the "funk".

Exactly! This is true of me too.

And of my children. When someone is out of sorts or kind of blue, give them a project...even one they don't really care for...and things start looking up.

Idle hands and all that.

Good post!

I'm usually an early morning, energetic, burst of energy kind of person but this whole week I've been getting up late, feeling sluggish, staying in my robe till noon and sleeping lots. Ack! I hate this. I'm forcing myself out of bed tomorrow morning and blaring the praise music!!!!

When I have Eeyore days, I love to read my Psalms! *Ü*
