Nov. 29, 2006 - One more reason I love homeschooling
We had a meeting at our house last night that lasted quite late. The other parents where concerned about having to get their kids up early for school this morning.
So here I sit this morning with my coffee and a quite house...my kids are sleeping in. No jarring them out of bed while it is still dark and sending them out into the cold. My munchkins are snug in their beds, getting all the sleep they need. School will be there waiting when they wake up. School doesn't schedule us, we schedule school.
So true! One of the reasons I love homeschooling. Especially when the kids are a little sick, I can keep them home and snug and still keep up with school.

Ahhh... the Lord is so good that way, isn't He? I was thinking the same thing this morning as I woke up around 7:45! We've all been fighting something, but Little Joe (9mo) has it the worst with a sinus infection. We all slept in and then stumbled to the kitchen and ate yummy chocolate chip banana muffins we made together last night. We sat quietly enjoying our muffins as our neighbor's daughter's bus went by. No rushing here.

Gotta love that We used to do the whole 'school morning dance' and it wasn't fun. We're in our 4th year of hs'ing now and our mornings are much more relaxed. If only the public school mamas knew what we know. :) I am just editing to add that I accidently hit the "visit my website" icon rather than the blog one (I call everything a "site" so I get confused often, lol). Anyway, I caught my mistake right away, but something on the left side of the screen caught my attention. I also have a son named Greyson. I haven't seen anyone else spell it with an E before. That is how we spell the word grey so we didn't even think of spelling it with an A. Just thought I'd share...small world. :)

What a blessing! I can only imagine the headaches that school teachers must face when they've got 30-some kids staring back at them in the mornings. Some not feeling well. Some crabby after being up too late. Some in a fog. Some hurting because of what is happening in their homes. Yes, it *is* a blessing that I can keep my kids home with me and tailor the day to suit OUR needs. My kids are always up brutally early so sleeping in is a new concept to me... but it's nice being able to let them do their own thing until we are all ready to face our (school) day. BTW-great slide show at the top of the blog. You've got adorable kids!

When I first started homeschooling, I used to tell people that the reason I homeschooled was because I thought it was easier to teach a phonics lesson than to be out at the bus stop at 7:30am with 4 kids (one a newborn).
No thanks!
The daily, sometimes hourly, musings of a homeschooling mom of four surviving on prayer, friendship and lots of Starbucks. Some days my cup runs over and some days it all spills out the cracks...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
