Every day thousands of people from Mexico enter our country in search of a better life. They do so illegally, crossing the border under the cover of night to avoid detection.
I on the other hand am made to run through countless hours of red tape, listen to endless tape-recorded messages telling me to fill out 50 forms to obtain the necessary documents to be granted the privilege of going to Mexico for a week long vacation! Apparently being an American citizen born abroad presents a few problems when attempting to obtain a passport.
I must be verified with those 50 forms, as well as several forms of photo ID and a few strings pulled from a Congressman simply to go on vacation. Does anyone else see the irony here?
I am not trying to be rude here or start an argument. It is just that I have heard so many people say that illegals from Mexico get all this "free" stuff and wonderful benefits. I know for a fact that they don't. I know very many "illegals" and I know that in no way do they qualify for welfare. I also know that they work very hard, for low wages. They cannot get "good" jobs with out papers. I do know that breaking the law is wrong, however, as christians I feel we are to have a little bit more of a loving attitude towards these people. Everytime I read statements like these from christians it just makes me sad.
Thank you for your opinion. I appreciate the way in which you shared. I agree that as Christians, we must be loving towards all people. Does being loving Christians mean we look the other way and continue to allow them to be here illegally? I have no problem with people immigrating to our country. If none had done so, many of us wouldn't be here. What I do have a problem with is the manner it is done. There are very legal channels by which people may enter and become permanent citizens, thereby being afforded all the rights that come with citizenship. Let them come, but let them come legally.
I understand all that red tape. We have to apply for visas every year to live in Romania and every year they have new laws, making it more and more difficult. I hope you have a terrific vacation!
Ooh, looks like a touchy subject. But I see your point of frustration!! Gee Whiz, it seems pretty crazy doesn't it? Hope you have a super time and don't worry, you won't have any problem crossing over to get back home!!!
The daily, sometimes hourly, musings of a homeschooling mom of four surviving on prayer, friendship and lots of Starbucks. Some days my cup runs over and some days it all spills out the cracks...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
