Tip #1 - You would think this would go without saying, but apparently some of us aren't too bright. Here is today's tip:
Always wash your hands after chopping jalepeno peppers and NEVER wipe your eyes before washing your hands after chopping jalepeno peppers. If you happen to forget this wise advice, you will look like this - .
Good grief!
Tip #2 - Do not attempt to blog hop while cooking. Duh! I was reading about all the yummy treats Marybeth is making for their Superbowl party. Sniff, sniff...what is that smell? Oh yeah, I was cooking before I snuck in to check a couple of blogs. Oops! Luckily all is not lost, but I sure seem to be learning lessons the hard way today. Not doing too well at multi-tasking.
I could care less who wins the Superbowl, but we must have lots of yummy food to eat while watching the commercials. The menu includes BBQ pork sandwiches, our secret family recipe cheese dip, TGIFriday's mozzarella sticks & buffalo wings, chex mix, veggies and some sinfully delicious Ben and Jerry's for dessert. I love any excuse for a party.
oh, the ben and Jerry's sounds like a really good idea, wish I had thought of that! Hubby drug out the t.v. and hooked it us so he could watch the game, he is having some claim jumper buffalo wings with his game-tradition here. I am going to whip up some oatmeal chocolate cookies for dessert. Not exotic, but yummy.
had to laugh over your forgetfulness while cooking and blog reading!
have a great week,

I have often thought that it would be nice to have my computer in or very near the kitchen so I could blog between tasks! Ha ha. However, it's on the other side of the house. Oh well! Your menu sounds great. I hope you had a great time!
Been there done that with the jalapenos. One year we had over a hundred peppers (from our garden) that I needed to chop and freeze. My hands were on fire when I was finished chopping (I noticed it midway in the cutting but kept going). I had to call poison control and they told me to soak my hands in milk. That did the trick; but I was soaking them off and on for a few days. Now I wear gloves. : )
Hope you all had fun! Your menu sounds great!
Happy Day,
Julie D.
Just wanted to thank you for all of your efforts - I was strolling around tonight and stumbled into your entries.... I've been stuck like glue to my monitor for 45 minutes, reading! Thanks for the tips, links, and food for thought!
Michele
I can honestly say I have learned and relearned those tips, on several occasions. The jalapeno tip.. ouch, that brings back BAD memories.
What type of banking is your husband involved in? I have been in your shoes more than once. My hubby (a commercial lender) has been relocated three times. When they fly him out, it's time to start packing! It's stressful, but ALWAYS worth it. ~Karlie
Have you tried "Chubby Hubby"? It has chocolate- covered, peanut butter-filled pretzles in the ice cream. If you like the sweet and salty combo, this is the best ice cream!
Like Julie I only chop them with gloves on, having learned the very painfully hard way. I had burns on my hands that felt like fire.
Just thinking about it makes me cringe.
The daily, sometimes hourly, musings of a homeschooling mom of four surviving on prayer, friendship and lots of Starbucks. Some days my cup runs over and some days it all spills out the cracks...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
