We cannot always or even often control events, but we can control how we respond to them. When things happen which dismay or appall, we ought to look to God for his meaning, remembering that He is not taken by surprise nor can his purposes be thwarted in the end. What God looks for is those who will worship Him. Our look of inquiring trust glorifies Him.

What an awesome thought! And so true. When I was going through a major depression, my therapist kept telling me I could not control what happened to me, I could only control my response to it. And being a christian, my response should always be to worship and praise God as I lean on and trust in Him completely. Thanks for sharing. This was a great reminder !

I have Terri MAxwell's book and it has been really helpful. I had forgotten about the part you wrote on my blog, but I remember it hitting me when I read it. Her book is another of those books I should read about every 3 months.
