By far, the most difficult part of the moving experience has been leaving our church home and feeling terribly lost without a new one. We knew we would never feel we were truly home in Texas until this area of our lives was grounded. We began praying before we left Idaho, asking the Lord for wisdom in finding where He wanted us to be. It's been a tough road, with the answers not being as readily visible as I would have liked, but God is so faithful.
He has finally lead us to a new place to call home. I will say it wasn't quite what I had anticipated. It is a completely different denomination, but (shock) God is moving there too! I can't tell you what a relief it is to have this part of the journey completed. Granted, it is only the first step, but it is a big one.
Now begins the task of building relationships and waiting to see how the Lord will use us. One thing He has impressed on me is the need to wait on Him before jumping in. I have a feeling there is a new ministry opportunity that will present itself...most likely one I had not even thought of or dared to dream about.
Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. Ephesians 3:20
Being a military family, we can relate to having to move and find a new church! "Church shopping" can be so difficult ~ glad you've found a place you can call home and be a part of.
I wanted to let you know, your blog has been nominated to display The Fruit of the Spirit graphic. Please email me and I'll be glad to give you more information.
We too recently moved, from CA to Spokane,WA, a year ago. I am just writing to encourage you. I fully understand how hard it can be to get plugged in. We have begun attending our new home church and are fully blessed with the word of God and wonderful new friends. I hope your adventure brings many blessings into your life. Lori
It must feel good to have finally found a church! I always find that part so daunting when first moving to a new town - especially being with the military and moving a lot.
Thanks for your comment on my post "It's Broke" from last week!
LOL *shock* 'God is working there too!' You're too funny. My kids went to a different denomination's VBS this last week and *shock* they learned about Jesus too! :)
So happy for you. It sure brings a lot of peace, huh?
Awesome news!!!! I agree that it is such a relief when we have finally found a church we can call "home". I just know God has great things in store for you and your family as you seek Him in all that you do, even in your ministries in the church.
And I don't think it is a biggie that it is a different denomination at all. In the past few years I really feel like God is breaking down the denominational walls in the sense that most churches now consist of people from MANY different denominations. Our church is a General Baptist church (our pastor told us there are actually 63 different baptist denominations -amazing!), but we come from an A/G & COGOP background and there are people in our church that come from several of those 63 different Baptist denominations, as well as christian church, church of christ and even a few lutherans. What is important is that you are in a healthy church where the Word of God is preached and lives are being changed and christians are growing and maturing in their walk with the Lord. The name over the door really doesn't matter.
I'm so glad that you finally found a home! It really does make a HUGE difference. I pray that it is a wonderful place where you can be rooted and established in the word, draw near to God through worship, bless others through service, and be knit together with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!
The daily, sometimes hourly, musings of a homeschooling mom of four surviving on prayer, friendship and lots of Starbucks. Some days my cup runs over and some days it all spills out the cracks...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
