About this time each year I begin to get the fall itch. No, it's not something I picked up while hiking. I'm talking about seeing summer in my rear view mirror. I'm ready for cooler nights, pumpkins, candles, tailgating at college football games and my favorite sweater. From what I gather from talking to the Natives (Texas natives that is), I won't be needing that sweater for a few more months. At this rate, we'll be gathered round the Thanksgiving table in our shorts and flip-flops. I'm sorry, but there's just something wrong with that picture.
In lieu of cooler temperatures I decided to at least give my blog a little fall update. How about you? What's the weather like where you are? What are you doing to get ready to settle into fall? Maybe I can live vicariously through you.
Well the weather is still warm here (Missouri). I am ready for a little cooler temps. I like it about in the 70's. I'm also ready for fall to start serving soups.......I love smelling soups that are simmering. Have a blessed day.
I remember spending Christmas in Florida once. We went swimming in the Gulf of Mexico on Christmas Eve and I remember thinking, "This isn't right. There should be snow!"
I agree, Thanksgiving in flip flops is odd. Hope you can be thankful anyway!
It's still in the upper 80's and lower 90's here in Virginia but I'm sure that fall is just around the corner. I can't wait for sweater weather, candles and a cup of hot coffee!
I think fall arrived two weeks ago here in Montana. We had a week of highs near 70 and lows in the 40s. It is a bit warmer now but still not hot.
My garden is doing well. Corn is almost ready to eat. Carrots are yummy and tomatoes and onions did well too. Our grape vines are loaded and are almost ready. Harvest time always makes me think of fall.
My green plants out front are turning from green to orange even if the trees aren't yet.
School has started which is always a sign of fall.
Sorry, no vicarious living to be had here! It's still horrendously hot in Arkansas ~ but that's not at all unusual. We've lived here off and on over a span of 18 years (we move a lot, back and forth mostly, since hubby's in the military) ~ I don't believe I've seen fall before November. And even then, it's not really "fall" ~ it's just humid and bone-chilling rather than humid and hot!
I grew up in Montana ~ I really miss it. I hope someday we'll get back there. We lived in Texas for 4 years at one point, so I know how you feel about Texas weather. And yes, we have spent a Thanksgiving or two in shorts and flip flops! :)
I too have been aching for fall!!!! I haven't stepped out of the house unless absolutely necessary. I have deciced that a summer pregnancy here has it's downside. Sounds like your getting settled in. We moved to a home on 7 acres in K... I now have chickens. Still seems foreign. I can't believe our babies are turning 3. Where has the time gone. Love, R
I'm with you--we're basically in the tropics here! No cool weather until mid or late October. I love Fall so much though. I'm already decorating for it even though it is still in the 90's!
The daily, sometimes hourly, musings of a homeschooling mom of four surviving on prayer, friendship and lots of Starbucks. Some days my cup runs over and some days it all spills out the cracks...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
