Sep. 12, 2007 - God's tapestry

God's ways never cease to amaze me.  More amazing still is the fact that He chooses to use me in bringing about His will.  I received the following in an e-mail from Back to the Bible and couldn't resist sharing.  What a beautiful picture of what God is doing in the world around us.  Whether we recognize it or not, we are a thread in His amazing tapestry.

Have you ever thought of yourself as part of a tapestry? You are! God is weaving people and details together like a glorious tapestry of grace, and you are one of the threads.  You and I are one little bit in God's great handiwork. By ourselves, we may not look like much. But when we get together, we make an absolutely impressive tapestry.

Hey Friend! It's been a while. I liked this tapestry analogy. It spoke to me because this Friday I am hosting a Close To My Heart party (scrapbooking, stamping, etc.). Normally I don't do this, but a woman from my homeschool group was telling me about it (she's the consultant) and I knew some women from church would be interested, etc. Well, last night I was surprised to find out that the woman who is the consultant is not only not a Christian, but she's very anti-Christian. Then as I looked through the catalog I realized that there is nothing Christian in there. One of the sets of stamps say, Faith and then Believe in Yourself. This morning dh asked me if I was looking forward to Friday and I mentioned that I was disappointed that there are no Christian products in it and dh said, "You know what, it's not about you. God may have orchestrated this whole party for His purpose in showing ------ the love of Christ. You are merely a vessel to carry out His plan. So I'm not saying that to hurt your feelings (He never would), I'm reminding you of the big picture and how God could care less about stamps and a lot about her salvation." Trust me, he was not being mean, and he was absolute correct. So, when I read your post I thought, "Yes, I get to be part of a tapestry here." Want to come Friday? I'll have yummies.
Jennifer :)
