Nov. 13, 2007 - Pardon me while I pry my foot out of my mouth
There we go. Much better.
We've all got one. We carry it around in our purse or pocket, keeping it hidden until we really need it. If the situation presents itself, we pull it out and climb up. Arms crossed and head held high, we make sure everyone within earshot can hear what's on our minds. What am I talking about? Why, my soapbox of course. Surely I'm not the only one. You have one don't you?
Those who talk a lot are likely to sin. But those who control their tongues are wise. Proverbs 10:19
These are the words running through my head as I climbed down off said soapbox tonight and realized I had completely run over someone while letting myself be heard. Good grief! When will I learn to just keep my mouth shut? Isn't that what a blog is for? Oh no, that's just another form of my soapbox.
Maybe I should just become a mute.
No, that won't do.
I think I need to consider my words more carefully...and ask the Lord to keep His hand over my mouth!
I WISH I had no idea what you're talking about! :(
I picked up a quote from my mom, "I only open my mouth to change feet." Sometimes it seems that way.
In the multitude of words, sin is not absent. OUCH!
I don't remember if I read or heard this story, but there was a woman who had some problem with her voice and was given a prescription by her doctor of six months of silence. She had to write down EVERYTHING she wanted to say. As the story goes, she threw away a lot of her notes before she handed them over and learned quite a lesson about thinking before she speaks.
I think I (and the people around me) would benefit from that kind of presecription!
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
One mistake doesn't mean we quit. God's spirit is in you and you were created to be an encouragement and a blessing to others. Receive God's forgiveness and move on.
I was creative enough to create a word structure that would simulate me choking on my own words ... and the sucking noise created as I pull my size 8 out of my mouth!
Proverbs 29.11 says, A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterward.
I put this in my blog's banner as a reminder -- I have a tendency to uttereth all my mind. HA HA!!
Thanks for being transparent -- I missed your soap box rant... so I'm not offended... just letting you know that you are not with out company when it comes to uttering. °Ü°
Hope you had a wonderful Texan Thanksgiving!!! Looks like we may be moving again. I will tell you the details when we talk. Have a great weekend. Hugs!!
The daily, sometimes hourly, musings of a homeschooling mom of four surviving on prayer, friendship and lots of Starbucks. Some days my cup runs over and some days it all spills out the cracks...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
