Ah
.the wonderful gift of a REST! I have been feeling so much better this morning, still fighting fatigue, but my heart is uplifted. The Lord showed me Psalm 63:7~8 to bring me comfort this day.
Because you are my help, I sing in the shadows of your wings, O Lord. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
I asked the Lord to show me what He would have me use this day for and His answer has indeed kept me busy! One of my dearest friends is having a birthday on Sunday. The Lord inspired me to do things to bless her and how blessed I have been to be able to do so!
The kitchen is nice and toasty from all the baking and cooking we have done this morning. I made a big batch of spaghetti sauce for her to take out and use on her birthday. She has 6 children as well, so it should go a long way for them! I also started a big pot of veggie stew for my family
.perfect day for that! It is so blustery and cold outside! Once my 6 year old was done with her seat work, she joined me and made up some banana bread so that my friend wont need to make breakfast on her birthday. J There were even extra to add to our meal of veggie stew
YUM!
THEN we made a birthday cake! We topped it with a frosting of whipped topping, powdered sugar and cream cheese. We took out some m&ms and wrote Happy Day! on it. Here is a picture
I am NO cake decorator, lol, but it sure looks yummy!

I put together a birthday bag of goodies for her. It includes my favorite cookbook
Marmee Dears Cookery book! She will LOVE this as she loves to be in the kitchen! She also loves to sew, so I added big pieces of pretty fabric. She especially loves quilting, so I added colors that went well together. I put in a snowman mug filled with gourmet coffee
.perfect because she LOVES snow AND coffee! J She will also enjoy a wonderfully scented Christmas candle (it is pine and winter scented, so should remind her of her favorite place to be
WYOMING). I threw in some of my favorite magazines to encourage and uplift her
a huge stack of Above Rubies, a The Old SchoolHouse magazine and a TEACH magazine! I put all of that in a sack and wrapped it up in beautiful snowman wrapping paper. My six year old rubber stamped her a darling card with horses on it (she loves horses) and put that on the package.
After we enjoy a meal at the table with my husband, I will load all this up AND the children J and we will drive out to give her birthday greetings! I am SO excited!
I dont share this for a pat on the back
.actually, I am feeling so blessed in my heart that the Lord sometimes allows us to think of and do things for others, in order to bring healing to our own hearts. What a wonderful God we serve!
