Is God guacamole?

That is what Abigail asked us the other day while picking out avacodo's at the grocery store.  We were thoroughly confused.  So, I asked her to explain her question.  She said, "Is guacamole another name for God?"

We found her inquiry to be rather amusing, though couldn't quite grasp why she was asking.  We told her that it was not and asked why she wanted to know.

We finally figured it out!!  She heard someone say "Holy Moly" and repeated it.  Upon hearing her we told that "holy" is a word to describe God and that we don't say it lightly and we don't use that phrase.  We didn't comment on the "moly" part of the phrase.  Silly us.  I suppose she just assumed that if Holy described God that the "mole" in guacamole did as well!

Let it be known ...

that from here on out, Ian is to be known as Cowboy Ian.

He made the announcement yesterday.  With a big grin on his face he said, "I'm a cowboy!  Cowboy Ian!"

So, there you have it.

What Is Breakfast?

Abigail:  What is breakfast?

Momma: Breakfast.

Abigail:  What is lunch?

Momma:  Lunch.

Abigail:  What is dinner?

Mmma:  Dinner.

After repeating the above five times-

Abigail: MOMMA!!  You are REALLY good at this game!

Such A Nice Day!

My little Abigail is so sweet.  One day last week the sun was shining, the wind was blowing, and we were outside riding bikes and playing in the dirt.  She looks up to me with such an enthused smile and says, "It's such a nice day to ride bikes!"

Then just the other day when the rain was relentlessly being dumped around us we were baking cookies and she said, "Oh, Momma!  It's such a nice rainy day to stay inside and bake cookies!"

I think it's absolutely beautiful the way she finds the good in everything.  I sure hope I can do the same!

The North Star

We were sitting on the porch tonight and Abigail pointed up in the sky and said, "LOOK! Do you see that really bright star? That means that baby Jesus is going to be born!" LOL. I guess we've had some miscommunication in the Nativity discussion.

"If you just color *right here* she'd be dressed appropriately!"

We received a Barbie catalogue in the mail today.  Abigail saw it and asked if she was allowed to look through it.  I told her that I had to first so that I could make sure it was appropriate.  Then I had a thought.  I gave her a marker and told her to circle the ones she thought were dressed okay.  She did a few pages.  A couple bothered her so much that she didn't just not circle, but she put an X through them.

Then she looked at me with a sparkle in her eyes and says, "If you just color right here she'd be dressed appropriately." and proceeded to color a longer skirt, sleeves, and a higher neck line.

Taking the Trash Out!

We have morning and afternoon responsibilites.  These pretty much consist of personal hygene, pet feeding, and some helping with chores.  Ian was just helping me put clothes in the washer.  When we were done he went over to the trash can, tried with all of his might and pulled the bag out!  He exclaimed, "I did it!  I can take the trash out!"

He was almost as happy with himself as I was.  Taking the trash out is now on Ian's responsibilty list.  :-)  I feel all misty eyed.  Who would have ever thought that somthing as simple as taking the trash out, a normally dreaded chore, could make two people so happy?

"You've Been Sleeping For Nine Hours!"

I asked Abigail to crawl into bed with Daddy and whisper that we were going to the park, but would wait if he wanted to go with us.  I went out to the car to get the rest of the groceries.  When I came back in my Tommy was stumbling down the hallway.  I asked him what was wrong and he said that he didn't know if he was back in basic or if WWWIII had started.  I just looked at him strangely and he said that Abigail jumped on him and started screaming, "YOU'VE BEEN SLEEPING FOR NINE HOURS!"  over and over again.  He said that he covered his head protectively and waited for his mattress to flip.

Poor guy.  We never did make it to the park.

What I Learned Today

Get paper and pencil and prepare to take notes. You will want to learn from me and not from yourself.

What I learned today:

1. Just because a paint brush looks like it has a wooden handle does NOT mean it is not a plasticy acrylic.

1.a Plasticy acrylic paint brushes melt in the dish washer.

1.c Plasticy acrylic paint brushes that melt in the dish washer STINK HORRIBLY.

2. It is not smart to start making Chicken Fried Rice without making absolutely positively sure that you do indeed have rice.

2.a (This is actually a good thing) My husband absolutely LOVES chicken fried noodle soup. LOL. I took all of the stuff that was supposed to be mixed with the rice and added chicken broth and macaroni. Oh, and my children both can eat three bowls of this soup! [Eek!]

3. It is altogether completely surprisingly possible for a nine teen month old to remove his diaper while dressed in overalls. Don't ask me how.

3.a Naked nineteen month olds say "What? What? What?" and point while poop is sliding down their legs. (The diaper taking off experience and naked pooping were actually two different experiences today.)

4. It is unwise to give a nine teen month old a push up sherbert treat from the ice cream truck.

4.a Said nineteen month old does not know that you can not hold the treat upside down and push.

4.b Said nineteen month old gets very sad when they see their treat plop on the side walk.

What else did I learn today? I'm sure there is more ... I just for some reason can't think of anything else.

That 19 month old is now 31 months old.  It is amazing how time flies and how many other wonderful things they teach you.  For instance today he taught me:

1.  I love being awakened to a knee on the belly and a sloppy kiss on the cheek.

2.  31 month olds can find a buttercup buried in an acre of grass.

2.a  Said 31 month old can produce an amazing smile as he picks said buttercup.

3.  Said 31 month old doesn't like thunder.

3.a  Said 31 month old's mother loves getting cuddles and movie watching while said 31 month old hides from the thunder.
