"There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow. Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence. I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing." ~ Daniel Webster
[ David’s Song of Thanks ] Give thanks to (God) , call upon His Name (Do you know His name?), Make known His deeds among thepeoples! 9Sing to Him, sing praise to Him, Speak of all His wonders! 10Boast in His set-apart (holy) Name (what name?), Let the hearts of those seeking rejoice! -1 Chronicles 16: 8-10
Sometimes it IS a sacrifice of time/effort to sit here and think of things I am thankful for. How 'bout you?
I am thankful for things selling on eBay and yahoo lists. I prayed for "oil to sell", like the poor widow in 2nd Kings. Even though the prophet helped her, she still had to collect jars, physically pour the oil, and sell at the market.
"The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!” —Psalm 50:23
I am very thankful my children are not "normal", meaning they DO get along very well, they care about each other, they are taught of the Lord with His Word, are modest, and their hearts are tilled fertile soil. They are not perfect, but willing to be taught and search the Scriptures to see if what I say is so.
I am thankful that God works in our lives in spite of our humanness and that He is willing to give us wisdom if/when we only ask for it.
"...The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." —Philippians 4:6
As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to stimulate the economy.
If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline, it will all go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer, it will go to India. If we purchase fruits and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car, it will go to Japan.
If we purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America! The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales (& eBay), since those are the only businesses still left in the U.S." - D. Lamb
Outside my Window...a hummingbird drinking nectar from some pretty pink bell-shaped flowers. I am thinking... about organizing a garage sale with a friend, whether DD needs braces or not (price tag: $3309.00 for 12 months with family discount). I am thankful for... those who take the time to answer my questions and let me bounce thoughts around without implying I'm stupid. From the kitchen... lunch is over, time to clean it up again :) I am creating... more listings for eBay, need to sell anything and everything we are not using. I am going... to finally make that dreaded appt at the Gyn office. I am wearing...brown cropped jeans, sage green 3/4 sleeve top, brown leather sandals. I am reading...No Greater Joy magazine, The Scriptures (various chapters), Created to be his Help Meet (even if'n it kills me), and the "Uppercase Living" catalog which I need to find 2 things to order as a gift to me from our house-owners. I am hoping...to meet some like-minded "believers" soon. I am hearing...the sound of chirping coming through my open windows, boys quizzing each other on Health vocabulary, Fearless Radio podcast on food storage. Around the house... are boxes to be unpacked again with books from the shelves the landlords took, sale ads that need to be gone through, ebay fodder that needs to be listed, CDs, CD-roms, games, movies to go through to see if we want to keep any. One of my favorite things... is recounting how God has worked in my life, from calling me out of my life of materialism and secular humanism, remembering miracles during emergency births and medical mess-ups, and trusting in His protection, provision, and salvation. A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...is do more research on prices, organize for garage sale or Craig's list, put more items on eBay, check in on Dad to see how is chemo visit went, mail card/flowers to Mom.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing for you...

If you like Drive By History you'll enjoy these 2 minute videos made by Glenn Beck. This one is on the history of the Super-Delegates, but after that be sure to watch the History of Illegal Immigration, but on YouTube, stay clear of the one on the Middle East, his history knowledge isn't quite all correct (i.e. not Biblically accurate) .
I saw this neat meme on Jane's blog. Click the graphic to join in! FOR TODAY APRIL 28th.
Outside My Window... birds hopping around finding bugs.
I am thinking... I should wrap my daughter's birthday presents.
I am thankful for... the Internet, helping in my search for Truth.
From the kitchen... the dishwasher is running, ham is thawing for tomorrow.
I am wearing... my walking pants, white shirt & socks as we just got home from a walk.
I am creating... more listings on eBay.
I am going... crazy lol. ok I did go to the post office today, I am going to bed very soon. (this post is late lol)
I am reading... The Great Falling Away, Psalms.
I am hoping... we will have another legal year of homeschooling next fall.
I am hearing... my boys chatting, little boy brushing teeth, DH reading the paper, my typing :)
Around the house... train set and Lincoln logs have taken over the now empty family room, empty space everywhere since the land-lords moved their furniture out, boxes that need to be unpacked again.
One of my favorite things... receiving confirmation from the Holy Spirit that I am doing something right.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Celebrate DD's 13th Birthday tomorrow, hopefully a field trip on Thursday, listing more items on eBay, purging the house of things not pleasing to my Savior.
My wonderful DH went to the Strawberry Festival today with a coworker and came home with 3 flats of strawberries @ $10 each. What a bargain! He gave 1/2 flat (the size you see Curufinwe holding) to the man who found his wallet and returned it, and will give 1/2 flat to our neighbor who fixed our broken window at cost. There is a full flat (the top size x 2) under the one he is holding, and 1.5 flats inside the fridge in the background. What do I do with them all?
"Christ has no interest in gathering vast crowds of professed adherents who would melt away as soon as they found out what following him actually demanded of them.
In our own presentation of the gospel, therefore, we need to lay a similar stress on the cost of following Christ and make sinners face it soberly before we urge them to respond to the message of free forgiveness. In common honesty, we must not conceal the fact that free forgiveness in one sense will cost everything." J.I. Packer
"Involuntary ignorance is not charged against you as a fault; but your fault is this---you neglect to inquire into the things you are ignorant of." ~ Augustine
"The devil can cite scripture for his purpose." ~ William Shakespeare
"It is a remarkable fact that all the heresies which have arisen in the Christian Church have had a decided tendency to 'dishonor God and to flatter man.'" ~ Charles Spurgeon
