To go along with out Woodpecker studies, I found this poem by Elizabeth Madox Roberts that we are using for copywork with both kids. Along with the poem, I found other printables that go along with this poem.
Woodpecker
Elizabeth Madox Roberts
The woodpecker pecked out
A little round hole
And made him a house
In a telephone pole.
One day when I watched
He poked out his head
And had on a hood
And a collar of red.
When streams of rain
Poured out of the sky,
And sparkles of lightning
Go flashing by.
And the big, big wheels
Of thunder roll,
He can snuggle back in
The telephone pole.
