Taking the week off

Posted in Ponderings

Chantelle's grandmother still thinks that because we homeschool she can have her whenever she wants and that we also follow the same breaks as the school. I had planned on not taking February's public school vacation off, but because I did not feel like listening to Chantelle's grandmother whine like a toddler about how she never sees her (she blew Chantelle off a few weeks ago) and how mean I am about changing plans constantly, I let her go. My husband told her that Chantelle will not be taking April vacation off. We already made plans to go on a bunch of field trips the week before the vacation.

So now this week I am fixing up the lesson plans and finishing up the weeks I have yet to get to. I may make plans, but if something does come up, we can skip a day or so. I am working on getting Matt ready to start Saxon Math 1. The Singapore math was just way to easy for his level and the Saxon Math 1 is more like a kindergarten book at the begining, so I know he will do good in it.

Matt and I went to go see the Curious George movie on Saturday. It was really cute. I haven't been to a movie in years, so this was a treat. One thing that bothered me, besides the price of the tickets OMG, was what is up with the COMMERTIALS instead of previews? We saw 3 short previews and then 20 minutes of commertials that we see on tv. The only one I enjoyed was a NASCAR one. We are huge fans of NASCAR so this was cool. (Woot to Jimmie Johnson for winning the Daytona 500). I use to enjoy watching the previews before the movie started. Even the little kids next to me were complaining about how many stupid commertials ther were. I mean do we really need to see 3 Cingular wireless commertials and a Verizon wireless commertial? Note to mention a plethera of other stupid ones. Give me a break!
