Jun. 18, 2009 - The Kitchen Table

Are you ever highly stressed out by just looking at your kitchen table? Perhaps the kids left crafts there and it was bedtime and too much chaos to have them clean it up. Perhaps it is mail that got put in a pile before company came DAYS ago and you were paying bills but got distracted by laundry and 100 other things, and it's late, and you are tired....perhaps it is a cup from dinner that you know you told the offender child to put in the dishwasher, or perhaps it's Father's Day cards made by loving children...or ALL of the ABOVE, and AGAIN, it's getting late and whoa to me you, it's just too much to tackle.

I'm speaking figuratively here, but man, doesn't that just sound dreadful at 8:30 pm on a Thursday night when you've been on the go for YEARS??

I shouldn't ever complain about too much going on because I'm in real good with my secretary. She dwells in every mirror in my house. Maybe I should have a little sit down with her!

Do you need to have a little chat with your secretary?

Ahhh, some relief to my table--- the little yellow cup is now in the dishwasher, put there by little hands asking if it was time for bed...which it IS. I can't IMAGINE not having my kids go to bed at the same time each night, a time that requires pulling down the shades so it is not daylight in their room

Jun. 20, 2009 - you should see my table!

Posted by Anonymous

My kitchen table stresses me out if it's not cleared off. Which isn't so good, considering that RARELY happens! It's the center of the action - first place you walk into at home, last room you leave, where all the eating is done (mostly), all the mail is received, etc. and it's just steps away from my desk - the other CHAOS in the room - the control center of my life.
I do try to keep it under control, in fact, that's one of the things I'm working on today. I've taken some steps to keep it organized but it's something I have to work on every day. I don't take much satisfaction in doing it because it's boring and I still don't know where all the stuff should go. I always want to make it better, so my system is always in flux. The finished product, when I do take the time to get to the bottom of things, is breathtaking! I love a clean desk and clean table!!!!!!

Jun. 20, 2009 - bedtime

We aim for a bedtime, but it often doesn't happen. I don't mind. It definitely has to be dark. When the offspring was younger, it was more important, though.
You can see some of the things that delay bedtime if you look at my fb page post today.

Jun. 29, 2009 - Kitchen Table

This post resonates me. My kitchen table always has stuff scattered on that. Flashcards for Doodlebug, easy to do when she's in her highchair, my purse which is the size of a suitcase, mail, receipts, wipes, scrunchie, shoes??? I'm just doing an inventory of what's currently resting there. The island seems to have a similar problem, mostly consisting of mail and bills that are due. Ugh! I need to have a chat with my secretary too. I have tried to let go of some of my obsessive need to have everything put away and out of sight. I try tell myself that this life, it's home, it's our things and part of having a family. All of this stuff is just proof that I have a beautiful daughter, a hardworking husband and a home. Not too shabby.
