Alligator again this weekend.....

I don't think so!:):)  Two weekends ago when our college football team played the Florida gators, yes, we had alligator for dinner.  I must confess that I reluctantly bought it at the store and put on a happy face while trying to figure out how in the world to cook it!  You see last year when we played this same team, our precious son wanted to try "gator" for the first time.  We didn't have the money.. so my answer was "NO, not this year.:)"  This year, however, I did have the money....so....I bought it.:)

WHY?  You see I have been pondering the word "delight."  I was reading an article in a magazine which asked:  "Did I delight myself in the Lord?"  My truthful answer was no.  The next question was something like "Is your home a delight to be in?"  Then, "Do you do things to delight your husband?  Do  you do things to delight your children?"  This was a new radical concept for me!  What do I delight in?  Do I allow myself to delight in anything?  Boy did that start some soul-searching and prayer for me!!  Sooooo, I have been trying to delight myself in the Lord and to delight my husband, children and those around me!!  Wa-lah!!  Our son was completely delighted with the alligator and his sisters enjoyed it, too.:):):)

"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4:):)

if you do this again, I want to come over and try that alligator! Thanks for the sweet comments today. It was a hectic first day of 4-H for me ... it can only get better - LOL!

I love what you are trying to do with your family ... delighting them. That's kinda like one of my focuses right now, too. Let's try to get together soon!

Ok so I have one question. Where does one find alligator to eat in Tennessee? Wait one more question. Did you like it? Curious minds really would like to know.

Wow, that is being a delightful mommy! So how did you cook it and does it taste like chicken? :-)

Thanks so much for your kind words and stopping by my blog! The ever-hilarious JenIG is always a tough act to follow. I can't wait for her to get back and entertain me! She is so very funny.

Thanks also for the reminder to be delightful...that is definitely something that we could all improve upon.

God bless you,
Marsha

Wow, girl! You have a lot going on. You did, in fact, make the most of your Chattanoogo trip! Sounds like fun.
I am so sorry about your husband's ankle. I'm sure it will all work fine. It will give him the opportunity to work with the kids, too. I'd sit down with everyone and talk about what the family would like to see happen over the next 6 weeks. Is there a subject that he enjoys that they could work on together? Any sit-down projects that have been looming that he could work on? When James had surgery last year, he sat in the den and copied our videos onto DVDs. Will you have a paycheck during any of this time?
You entry about delighting your family was great. All I could think was, "How do I give them things they delight in when I feel like I'm just trying to survive?" Can you relate, and what did you change? : )
I will pray for you and your family, and I pray God blesses you all beyond your wildest dreams during this "adventure".

Oct. 13, 2006 - So, how DO you cook 'gator?

Posted by abcemom
I have been SOOOO busy that I haven't had a chance to check the blogs. I'm glad to see yours. I have never had the urge to buy 'gator (though my brother-in-law probably loves to eat 'gator). Not being huge football fans, and all of us except Em being transplants, we don't really get into the whole "orange" thing. BUT, if you have a great recipe, I'll send it on to my sister!
