A broken foot and changed plans.

Do you ever have big plans for something and then whoosh.. your plans have changed and they are no longer your own?  Well, we had planned to go camping with our church this weekend and were very much looking forward to it.  Last year we signed up to go and had to cancel due to some health concerns with my dh.  On Tuesday night my dh was outside messing around with a soccer ball and somehow he hurt his foot.  He knew that it was not normal kind of foot pain.  He worked on Wednesday and it hurt still, lots!!  So on Thursday he headed to the doctor's office and found out why it hurts so golly much.  Yep, fractured.  In a strange place.  It is a weight bearing bone, which means that it makes walking extremely painful.  He now has a boot and crutches.  The doctor said that it may be anywhere from 4-6 weeks before he can go without the boot.  His employers have said that he can't come back to work with the boot (due to the nature and safety of his job.)

What all of this means is that he will be spending lots of time at home.:)  He is going to get to be with us all day for many weeks. :):):) I must admit that it is a little daunting in itself, however,  as he works long hours often and has not participated much in our homeschool.  But, the children and I do look forward to seeing him tons each and every day!!  We are going to try and make the most of every moment with Daddy!

I have been looking for ways to delight in the Lord and to delight my dh and children.  I guess that God is giving me more opportunities to do just that!!  Please pray for us as we embark on this unplanned adventure.  I am trying not to let myself worry about the "what ifs" and just remember that God is always faithful!!  He has always met our needs!!  And that He is our ultimate Provider, not my husband!!  I thank Him for His faithfulness.

Have any of you ever had unexpected times of injury, surgery, etc...  Do you have ideas or tips of things that helped you?

God bless!

Angie:)

Consider this a Blessing in disguise. The Lord knew you and your family needed some quality time with your husband so here it is. I would love to spend more time with my husband and see him take an active roll in Tylers homeschooling.
I have broken that bone before its very painful.
As for suggestions try playing family games (whatever games you have in the house). And just enjoy this time you have together.
Blessings

Prayers for your family and your husbands quick healing.
It's no fun when someone is not well.
I appreciate your prayers!

So good to hear from you :)

Sorry to hear about your hubby's injury, but I am glad you all get to spend some time together. My dh has worked at home since 1995, and we have loved it! It takes a while to get used to being together 24/7, and occasionally we step on each other's toes, but we sure like living as a family every day. Enjoy yourselves!

I just now read your latest post about your dh's foot. It's been a few weeks since it happened and I hope things are going great and the foot is healing like it's supposed too!! My oldest daughter broke her leg in her very first softball game!! Very unexpected for sure!!
I hope everyone is adjusting well and used to the "principal" (ha ha) hobbling around the house!! Seriously, I bet the kids LOVE LOVE having their daddy around...and you too!!
Love, Dawn

I hope healing is happening quickly... and that you are all finding some fun times in your day. I like having my husband home... when he is home. He was gone Monday & Tuesday, home on Wednesday and gone Thursday & Friday. He has to leave right after church on Sunday to get to Kentudky in time for a meeting at 4... and he won't be home until Tuesday night. He will be home Wednesday, but gone (during the day) Thursday & Friday.
One of the GREAT blessings in our new home is that he has a separate office, so he can go and not be disturbed while he works.
Let me know how things are going.

Just checking in!

How is your "new life" with your husband at home? I am sure that there have probably been some major changes. :)

I hope that you can attend the bible study. We will be starting on the 4th of November. Did Jen get the info to you? If not, I will try to call you or get the info to you some other way.
