Loving, Learning and Living by God's Grace:)

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord! (Joshua 24:15)

We have been talking LOTS about serving this week in our home.  It seems that somewhere along the way with all of the craziness and business of life, we(I)  have forgotten that as Christians we are here to worship, honor, love and serve God all the time in ALL that we do!

I have been getting after my childeren for serving each other with grumbling and complaining.  Then I did a little closer inspection of myself and realized.... UGH!!  I certainly often serve others in a more cheerful way than I serve my dh and childeren!:( :(  So... starting with me and my attitude:) , we are practicing and learning to serve each other, joyfully!!   We have been talking about how "Even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:28)  Jesus served.  We want to serve.   We want to give honor and glory to God with all that we say, think, do and are and to remember that we are ultimately serving the Lord!!  This means that I, we, must joyfully serve, ESPECIALLY, my family!!!:)  I hope that you and yours are serving the Lord joyfully!  God bless!  And for any of you that may be praying after my previous post, PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!!!!!!  Thank you!!!!

You are one of the most servant hearted people I know. I mean that.

And thanks for the comment. Blood pressure is not TOO high but it's up there. Not great. Have a LOVELY weekend yourself, friend.

Love,

Hi Angie,

Yep, that was me enjoying the snake. Great post on serving.......I am much better at serving others than I am my family too. I seem to get so single minded and busy that I almost resent having to stop for them. I can definitely see it rubbing off on my kids, it's really gut wrenching when you recognize your own faults in them.

I'll be praying!

A verse that gets used a lot in our home is, "Do everything with out arguing or complaining." As you said, it's quite humbling sometimes to have to use it on myself. I think many of us serve others more cheerfully in those once a week or on occasion things than we do in the day to day grind of serving our family in the same way over and over again. How many times can you clean a toilet cheerfully. If we're doing it to serve our family, and therefore, serve the Lord, we should do it everytime. I ain't there yet!

Isn't that how it goes??? Ugh--but children are a wonderful (painful?) mirror to our souls--great way to grow up!
