What are they Training to Be???
The Same yet So Different

My twins are very sweet in so many ways! Although they are identical in looks they are far from being identical in spirit and personality. One of them is very dainty in every way, a true girl in every sense of the word. She can spot something pretty a mile away and she just loves to be attached to me at the hip.
The other twin is also a girl but she has some tomboy in her also. She tends to be rougher, tougher and can spot an ATV a mile away (LOL) and she just loves to be attached to daddy at the hip.
My girls are always talking about how they are mommy training and training to be good helpers. One day the twin who is extra girly said, "I am mommy training" which caused the other one to pipe up and say, "Well I am daddy training." That was just too cute!

Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies....

2 Cups of Freshly Milled Whole Wheat Flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp of cinnamon (freshly ground if you have some sticks to grind)
1/2 tsp sea salt
3/4 cup of organic unsalted butter
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of (healthy) sugar cane unrefined crystals (such as florida crystals) NOT the white stuff!
1/2 cup of healthy peanut butter the ones without sugar even the freshly made one is great
1-1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
1 cup of healthy chocolate chips
1 egg free range (preferably organic)
Mill your wheat or just use store bought whole wheat flour. Combine all your ingredients into a bowl. Mix it well but do not over mix. I mix mine up in a Kitchen Aid. When your have your mixture roll the dough into approx 24 balls. Then roll each ball in some sugar (just pour some onto a plate) Place the balls on a tray and then slightly press them with a fork to leave lines on top of the cookie or just use the palm of your hand if you prefer. Do not flatten the balls of dough out too much. You can double this recipe if you wish and then freeze your dough balls in baggies for later use. It is a quick and fast snack when you want. Bake them at 375 for approx 9 min.

Chicken Thai Curry in a Hurry.....

This was a very quick and easy recipe to make! Hi Lee I hope you enjoy this one too!
5 Tbsp of organic butter
3 Tbsp of Whole Wheat flour soaked
2 Tbsp of Curry Powder
2-3 Cups of Coconut Milk
1 tsp minced onion flakes
2 Cups of Cooked Chicken (cooked in garlic)
3 Cloves of Garlic minced
Celtic Sea Salt and Freshly ground pepper to taste
Lemon Wedges approx 3
1 Med Bag of Frozen sweet peas and
grated carrots
4 medium sized potatoes cubed into very small bites (cook them halfway in a pot of water then remove the water and add it to your mixture) or you can just add it to your pot and cover the pot so the potatoes cook. Be sure they are cut small so they cook quickly.
4 Cups of Brown Rice Cooked in Chicken Broth
Chicken broth (enough to cook rice in or add powdered chicken broth the healthy kind one WITHOUT MSG)
1 small package of organic chicken breasts
3-4 Tbsps of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Take your brown rice add it to a pot or to your rice cooker. Instead of cooking my brown rice in just water I always cook it in chicken broth or I just add water and add enough healthy powdered chicken broth to give it good flavor. Once your rice is cooked put it aside then proceed to the rest of this recipe.
Wash then cut your chicken into cubes. Put your olive oil in a pot heat and add your minced garlic. Add your cubed chicken and cook until the chicken is cooked through. When it is cooked take it off the heat. Now in another pot melt your butter then add the flour and curry powder, cook and stir for about 5 min. Now add your coconut milk. Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a boil while stirring. Add your small pieces of potatoes and cook for approx 5 min. Now add your onion and the cooked chicken. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low for approx 5-7 min covered. Now add your peas and carrots cooking a bit longer until they are warmed through. Squeeze in the juice from your lemon wedges. Cook until your mixture is thick, bubbly and heated through. (If the mixture gets too thick just thin it out a little bit with chicken broth)
Serve this over the brown rice. This was a huge hit with my family. I love Thai food so I was so excited to come up with this dish. If you do not eat chicken you can use tofu instead it also tastes great. Feel free to change the seasoning according to your own tastes.

• Feb. 13, 2008 - Teaching Scriptures from When Your Children are Babies (Repost)
Teaching Scriptures from When Your Children are Babies (Repost)

(My precious children trying to come up with their own tune for a scripture passage)
Ladies do you teach your babies and your children scripture? Do you fill them up all day long with the wonderful Word of God? Filling our children up with the Word of God on a regular basis is so easy to do it is the most beneficial thing you could ever do for them! It hides the word in their heart from a very early age.
Ps 119:11 ¶ Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
From when my babies are in the womb they hear scriptures that I play to music or they just hear it being read off in the far distance From the day my babies are born I always put them down for a nap to scripture songs softly playing in the background of their rooms or within my arms. At bedtime in the evening I put them to sleep with Sometimes I play the dramatized version for them when they are young but most of the time I play the read only version for the real little ones. (This is just to ensure that they the bible being read quietly on CD within the womb. or on tape by Alexander Scourby. Buying the scriptures on tape or CD will be one of the very best investments you will ever make. won’t possibly get scared from the drama sounds on it)
At the breakfast table I teach my children scripture (I am not musically inclined ladies so it is not like you need skill to be able to do this!) If I can do it anybody can! The babies are right there along side us so you would be amazed at just how young they are when you begin hearing them join in. Their sweet little voices jump right in on singing the scripture verses that you were already singing or reciting with your older children. My children have all learned the 23rd Psalm, and were able to sing it with us as a group, before the age of 2 yrs old. There are places that do sell bible passages already put to music for you. So if you decided to buy these tapes that are already pre-made, then the job is already half done for you. Our family has all learned I Corinthians 13 together as a family from a company that had it already put to music for us. But I must admit that I do still personally find it enjoyable and special to still make up my own tunes whenever possible. Take a moment mothers to watch your children giggle as they watch you try to make a tune that is catchy, one that is sure to flow just right and one that also must be remembered. Then the next day comes and you are all giggling trying out many different songs as you try to figure out which one it was that you decided on. Then you finally remember and you are back on track ready to sing those scriptures to the tune you have chosen. It is a total memory builder mom. It is a family time, a fun time, a memorable time, a learning time and a time they are taking the Word of God and placing it right in their hearts! You are giving them the gift of life mothers! You are such a precious mother!
There are so many creative ways to teach and learn scripture ladies. When you take the time to teach your children the scriptures from the very first day they can hear from in the womb and from the very first moment that they are born into the world that is such a precious, precious gift that you are giving them! They will always remember verses whenever they find themselves in any situation. But most of all they will always be able to fall back onto scripture in times of crisis. Gods Words will have always been a part of their daily life. How could they just dismiss it in times of need and in times of praise? You are filling those children with our Heavenly Fathers ways. They are learning Gods ways and how God wants things done. By giving them this mothers you are giving them a gift they will treasure for a lifetime! Gods word will never return void ladies, did you know that dear sweet mothers? He promises us in His Word hat His Words will never return void. What an awesome promise to hold onto.
Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Steve Green has the Hide Em’ in Your Heart Vol -1 and Vol- 2 (audiocassettes, CD's and videos) that are great for children to learn scripture to songs. If and when I may put on a video for my children it is always a video like Steve Green, where they are learning scriptures or I will put on a creation video that teaches them about creation instead of evolution (which is usually always filled with scriptures also) The Moody Science Videos are great for what I just mentioned. Valiant Music also has some very beautiful soft, scriptures put to music by his lovely wife. He sells these by tapes and CD’s I believe. He will send you a sample CD to try and it is so very sweet. Very soft and gentle, I just absolutely love it. If you are interested in it at all email me and I will get the information on how to obtain it to you. Here is a good opportunity/memory builder to make up your own home video with the children learning and singing scriptures with you or with each other. Mothers please do be sure that they have lots of fun but also be sure that they keep it respectful because we are talking about Gods Word here ladies and I think it is good to teach our children yes have fun but be sure you are always respecting our Heavenly Father in the process! Making a video like that would be great fun and it would probably become their most favorite video to watch or their favorite audio cassette to listen to. Why not mothers, they know all the stars in the movie personally and so they feel very important, LOL. But remember anything over 30 minutes stifles creativity so remember to keep their video watching limited. But if they are making the video then time is not an issue. Making the video can be very creative and fun while still singing and reciting the Word of God. Who knows they may do such an awesome job that others may want to buy their finished product. When you are immersed in the Word of God you just never know where He is going to take you. What adventure He may have in store for you! My children love to take their tape recorders and just record what is happening around them at that time. They do this as their fun and creative time. It is fun to go back and listen to what people were talking about scripture wise and to hear the scripture verses and songs that were being recited or sung during the time it was being recorded. So that is another way to get the scriptures being listened to on tape also.
Mothers there are so many ways to be creative in teaching the scriptures to our children. It never has to be boring for them or for you! When you tell them stories read to them straight out of the bible. Don’t sugar coat the word with storybooks. Make the bible exciting with the way you read it. Add emphasis on it, change your voice when you are speaking for different people, add sound effects! Children love for their stories to come alive for them when listening to them. What better story to read to them then the Word of God! Do it with excitement and it will be their favorite storybook ever? Memorize scriptures with them! Give everybody stickers for every verse they remember. Review all the verses you all learn. If you don’t review them they may tend to forget them! You want to keep the Word alive in their hearts always! You want to say them over and over again so that it is hidden in their hearts, so that they may not sin against Him. Play the scriptures on tape all day long in the background. In this new house we moved into there is an intercom system. I just love this intercom I am then able to play scriptures being read and scriptures put to music throughout the house all day long in the background. Before being able to do that I had a tape/cd player in each and every room so I could accomplish my task that way. Find what works for you mother and then go with it. Go to God, He would love more than anything to see your family memorize His word daily especially as a family group. So seek Him on what is the best way to do so! If money is tight He can find a way! Faith living is the best lessons for children to learn anyway! There are many creative ways out there to come up with mom. You are creative just like our creator! I have scripture tapes that I bring into the car. We listen to the bible being read as we drive just sitting in the car instead of sitting doing nothing or wasting time. Not only are you all being fed the Word of God ladies but what better habits can you instill into your children then to teach that you and your husband have and do read the Word of God on a daily basis too. This is a family thing tradition!
My husband has set the rule that our children are not allowed to listen to anything on audio tape that is entertaining (also a side note that the stuff we have that is entertaining is always educational in character or in academics) until we know that they have heard at least a solid hour of scripture listening. (That means truly listening and not just it playing in the background) If later on that day they may ask to listen to more audio tapes (like Jonathon Parks which are adventurous audio tapes learning about creation) my husband knows these are good wholesome learning tapes but he also knows that the Word of God is way more important and so that is what we want to instill, teach and train into our children. So he has another rule that whatever our children hear audio stuff that is fun they must hear twice the amount of scripture tapes (they usually like listening to the dramatized version) before they can hear anymore entertaining stuff. If we feel they are getting excessive in wanting to hear their audio fun stuff we put a halt to it right away. We remind them that their day belongs to God and God should be given their time. If they are wanting to entertain themselves all the time then anything in excess we see as bad and we make them take a break from it for a while so they learn how to keep and stay in control. The only thing I would say children cannot ever get too much of is the Word of God. They can hear that all day as it is being read in dramatized form word for word out of the bible and they will love it but it will never in anyway harm them. Scriptures to songs will never harm them either. It also helps those who have a hard time reading for the reading is done with them. It benefits everybody! When we fill our children’s days and life with Scripture what more can we ask for. We can pray that the scripture will take hold in their hearts and that it is planting seeds of character and seeds of relation with our Lord and Saviour. We can also only pray that those seeds will grow and help ensure that our children will always want to serve their Lord. We make it a point to show our children that we put a huge priority on reading/hearing Gods word. Without it we are dead. So go ahead mothers fill them up! You can never go wrong! Trust me from a mother who knows first hand!
We have learned the 10 Commandments as a family too. We learned them together while sitting and eating at the breakfast table or at the dinner table. The children have so much fun and they love it when they can finally recite all 10 without any help! Mothers don’t deprive your children of learning the Word of God. Be creative and let them hear it and learn it all day. If you cannot afford to buy it already on tape then make your own version. You read the scriptures on tape everyday and build your own library that each child listens to on a daily basis. Add drama to your tapes and make it fun and exciting. Let your children hear the tapes throughout the day. If you are musically inclined then you are ahead of me and have an advantage a lot of us don’t have. So pull out your guitar or sit at your piano and put those scriptures to songs for your precious children to learn with you! If you find you have a great product to share, put a price tag on it, give your home business a name and make your family business into something your family can grow together in and you can do it together and run the business together and all of us unskilled unmusical people will be waiting for you to put together a product we can purchase and use. The bible is big and it would be fun to read trough it in a year as a family. The funniest way to get through the bible would be to sing your way through it. Song just helps us retain words in our memory that much better than if we had no music along with the words. Who knows maybe I will work on doing something like that myself. If any of you get a product let me. I would be very interested.
Well ladies lets get creative. Find a way to get those scriptures flowing into the lives of your children. You could do scripture flash cards, how about trivial pursuit for the bible, there are so many fun ways. Dearest Mothers, you can do this if you truly want it. When you see your children hunger for it you will then see that you NEED to keep doing this. They are hungering for it because God has put that hunger into us, it is up to us to feed that hunger and spark it up and be all we were created to be! Come on ladies this will be fun! Get the bible read in a year and do it while you sing it! Now get up and go sing some scriptures to your children! What a blessings you have laid upon them!
Dearest Lord,
Help these ladies see the important of what your Word brings us. It brings healing, it brings peace, love, joy, and contentment, long suffering and on and on and on the list goes. The enemy blinds so many women but you can change that Lord. Remove the blinders and let them have fun with their children as they learn your word in doing so Father! Please show them how to be creative, give them the ideas they need in order to succeed in this task. Have them ask their husbands for his input and turn this into a family event Thank you Lord for the family unit! I adore my family. I pray for more children but in the meanwhile I pray you continue to help me guide the family I have now . Help me to always fill their hearts and minds with your words always!! Thank you for loving us so much and for giving me hope if and when I may ever feel discouraged! These women can do this and they will want so much to latch onto you Lord and fill themselves with your word and your love! Watch out ladies! He is ready and willing to take you for a little ride, so get in and buckle up ladies! In Jesus name I pray Amen! |

Encouraging Our Children While They are Still Young.....

A Joyful worker at 2, 3, 4, and still at 5 yrs old

Today as I watched a home video with my children we watched one of my daughters, who is currently 5yrs old, as a 3-1/2 yr old little girl. She had requested to make lunch for her 7 siblings. Being a mother who likes to train her children young, I agreed to let her set out to accomplish her big task. Who was I to stomp on her big plans?
It was so precious to watch her struggle with that BIG refrigerator door but she didn't give up on getting it open. She was amazingly successful in completing her task and stayed cheerful throughout the process. After our lunch we all thanked her for such the wonderful meal that she prepared for us. She was one proud little girl!!! I was proud Mama! Today that little girl of mine is still a big achiever and a hard worker! No task ever seems to big for her to tackle.
The moral of this story is never view your children as being too young to do a task. If they are big thinkers believing that they can accomplish something that seems bigger than them, go ahead and cheer them on. Encourage them and be their loudest cheerleaders. In doing so you will watch your children grow and flourish right before your eyes as they become hard working achievers. What is the worst that can happen? You will find that everybody wins!!! You will never regret doing so!! Encourage and be encouraged!!!

• Jan. 18, 2008 - Thankful Eater???? Picky Eater???? (Repost)
Thankful Eater???? or Picky Eater???? (Repost)

Are there foods that turn your stomach just at the thought of them? I know there are some foods that cause me to feel that way. But I often have to ask myself, would I eat this food if I knew I was going to starve to death? The answer is always yes, of course I would.
When I was growing up one of my jobs was to cook dinner every night. After I came home from school I would start dinner for the family. Because I had that job I would always make food that I liked. I was never given a menu directing me in what to make for dinner . I believe today that I am a pickier eater than I would of been if I would of been guided into eating things that seemed undesirable to me when I was younger.
One of the main things I do not like is seafood!!! It just turns my stomach badly. My mother did put crab meat in our spaghetti sauce whenever she made it and I had no choice but to eat it. But I don't think things like that happened enough to break me completely of all my pickiness. Don't get me wrong I try to teach my children differently. I don't allow them to be picky eaters. I want them to always be thankful for the food before them. I am sure to model what I want and expect from them even though I didn't learn this lesson well enough while I was still young.
My older brother also dislikes seafood. One day he went to eat at a friends house. He walked into the house and said it smelled great. When he asked what was for dinner she said it was calamari but he didn't know it was fish. When they sat down to eat he said he took a bite and realized it was squid. He said it was so chewy that he thought he was going to throw up. But he never did. I am sure that was so hard for him to eat but he found it too rude to not eat it. I once went to a older woman's home where she made tuna casserole. I was in the middle of heaping a pile of it onto my plate when I found out it was tuna fish. I rapidly put the serving spoon down and slowly ate the tuna with bites of everything else I had on my dish to help drown out the flavor.
So what are we teaching our children to do in those situations? Are we teaching them to be thankful for the food before them or are we teaching them to be picky eaters? I believe there are just some flavors of food that we may not acquire a taste for at first. Till today I am not a fish eater but I truly think I can retrain my taste buds to tolerate it if I continued to make myself eat it on a regular basis. I will cook fish and serve it occasionally because I want my children to try all foods. I want them to learn to love all foods and not just like the foods that I find appealing. When I married my husband he did not like onions, tomatoes, or spicy food, he grew up eating very bland food. Today he eats all the foods I make including all the things he didn't like in the first part of our marriage. I believe he grew up accustomed to eating the food only because I was accustomed to making food that way so he just learned to like it with time. I think the same is true for our children. It is possible to train our children's taste buds and it is possible to retrain them if necessary, that is if you already trained them to be picky.
In our home we require that our children eat alittle of everything being served for dinner. They may not have more food of anything until they have finished everything on their plate. They are never allowed to say, "I don't like." Also they must eat a small portion of everything whether it be just 4 peas, I use that as an example but to be truthful they love peas. . They have to eat everything. If they really don't like the taste I suggest they eat it with bites of other food on their plate that they do like. If they gag I don't rush them and I never make it a stressful situation. We take our time and do this slowly I do it in love and always with patience. If you do it harsh or forceful you will create a stressful situation and it will be a horrible memory for everybody. If they say they don't want to eat anymore because they are full or their stomachs just cannot deal with continuing trying the food or because they say they have to go potty (which is usually a manipulation) I will put the food away and bring it out for the next meal with a smile. Like I said I do it in love. They have grown to know that if they don't eat it then and there that they must wrap it for the next meal. They also know it is always better to eat it fresh so they have learned to get it over with. know they will not love all food but I do think they will learn to eat anything if we teach them that way. I am always my children's cheerleaders. I encourage them to get it done and to eat it then. I try to remind them that God makes wonderful food and that with time they will grow to love most of it. I had one of my children mention that to me the other day. They said I remember when I didn't like such and such food at all. But now I really like it. I want my children to succeed. So I make sure I only give them a very small serving of something I know they will have a hard time eating. Like I said if I know they will have a hard time eating peas, I will only give them 2-4. This way they can succeed and not fail. I always give very, very small servings of new foods too, even if it was nothing more than the serving size of a teaspoon. I know they can and will succeed with serving such a small serving size in the beginning. I can guarantee you that if I was forceful or harsh or demanding in any way that my child would not like that food today. I would probably still be battling them over eating it. They would resent me for forcing this horrible food on them and it would be a never ending battle to get them to eat it never mind them ever truly liking it.
I make most of our foods from scratch. I make alot of beans and fresh veggies. I love to add flavor to my foods. My children are eating fresh raw garlic in their foods from when they are one year old. They don't know any different. If you start young you have won most of the battle. But if you didn't start young it is not too late to change them. It will just take time. If they are not snacking all day and the food you serve is what they get no matter what, well they will get hungry enough to eventually eat it willingly. I truly don't think there are many foods my children have a hard time eating. We eat raw veggies alot and we also eat cooked veggies. I have one child that has a hard time with meat like me. I always require he eats small amounts and I remind him that I too have a hard time with it but we would eat that little bit together. We always seem to enjoy it in the end.
What would happen if we were in the end times? What would your children do if they were missionaries always eating at someone else's house? Or what if they were in another culture where they eat bugs? Some places are insulted if you don't eat what they feed you. Believe me they would not let themselves starve. They would begin to eat what was served them and they would begin to enjoy it. Especially if it meant they didn't have to starve. Train your children's taste buds early on to enjoy good healthy food. It is possible to learn to like good food with time. But it is easier if you do it from the start.
I remember back when I sent my oldest son to preschool before we starting homeschooling his teacher would always comment to me how he was so content taking out his chopped up broccoli and dipping it in dressing and eating it while other children had snack packs and cookies. He would call them his little trees because that is what I called them and he ate them and enjoyed them because he didn't know any different.
What kind of eater are you? Are you picky? Do you say, I don't like this or I don't want that?. Do you cheerfully eat what you are served? It is never too late to change yourself either. Start small and slow so you don't make yourself sick but add little bits of things you don't like to your menu. Eat it with something strong tasting that you do like to drown out the flavor at first of the thing you know you don't like at the time being. Let your children see you eat things they know you don't like. Tell them you are going to change your eating habits together with them. Make up a strong flavored sauce you both like so you can add it to the foods you don't care for. This will help get you started in this new adventure of changing the taste buds of your family. Ketchup is a good food disguise that alot of people like. When I was very young I didn't like meat. I still don't care for it very much today but I will always eat alittle bit at the meal to set an example for my children. My mom would cut up my steak into small pieces and that was one of the worse meats to eat because it was like eating a slab of flesh to me. What I would do is I would dip it in ketchup to help with drowning out the flavor. But of course the ketchup didn't get rid of the chewing and chewing sensation of this slab of flesh I was eating but I still ate it because I had to.
Never require that a child sit at the table until their food is all gone. That is a battle you will never win. You are sure to lose because they are strong and they will hold out. They will win that battle always and they will become much stronger willed children because of it. If a child just sits there in hopes they will be able to dispose of their food don't ever let that happen. All it takes is one time for them to gamble it can happen again. Be consistent, and firm, but loving. Ask them would you like to be done and finish that at a later date? Then wrap it and don't forget to give it to them at the next meal. Even if the next meal is snack time. If you don't keep your word they will not believe in you. They will be winners and you will be the loser. Always win or always at least appear to win. Even if you have to take a small amount of food off their plate without them knowing before you serve it again. Once they know you mean it they will not try to get out of eating it. Winning is so important, it is the key element in being successful when it comes to training your children. You must always win if you are going to succeed!!! If your child sits there for a very long time then manipulates you by saying they have to go to the bathroom. Let them go, maybe even take alittle food off their plate when they are gone, I would sometimes do this to help them be winners in the end. I wouldn't take too much just alittle to help ensure they ate it all in the end. . Ask them if they want to finish it when they come back. If they say no, don't push it, wrap it up and serve it to them later on or the next day. Eventually they will learn the pattern and they will eventually eat what is served without complaint. Or they will eat it without wasting time like having going to the bathroom or sitting there for a long time. As a matter of fact don't let them sit there. Make meal time between certain hours and if they are not done by those hours the food gets wrapped until the next meal. If they really want to eat they will learn real quick to eat in that time frame. Otherwise there is no stress no worry you just wrap the food and they eat it at the next meal. Nobody is upset, nobody is stressed, nobody is manipulated. Everybody is smiling and you are winning! You must keep doing this until all food is finally gone. It is a process and you must be willing to win in order for it to be successful. It is only challenging at first but it will get easier with time. Don't give up you will be glad you endured.
Be sure to not have bad food that they can sneak and eat it in the house when you are not looking. This is a key element when training them to not be picky eaters. If there are not cookies or potato chips or things like that to snack on they cannot sneak it and they cannot eat it. Also YOU have to be the example. Remember more is caught then taught. If they see you always eating bad food, they see you being a picky eater or they see you eating something other than what you are serving them. You might as well give up because you will never win this battle. You must be the example you want them to be.
If you serve snacks make sure they are wholesome snacks. Serve foods that are good for them like raw nuts, raw cheeses, veggies with dip dried fruit. These are all good for them and they will grow to love them. My children love to eat fresh fruits as a snack. I can never keep enough of it in the house. They love raw food in general. RAW FOOD is soooooo important to your families health! Our bodies require enzymes to be healthy and if we are not replacing them on a daily basis you are setting your family up for illness. But that is a whole another blog in itself.
Remember to try to train your children to be the best they can be. Train them to grow into adults that always put other people first and into people that care about their overall health.. Train them to be other oriented. They will be well adjusted adults because of it. Teach them all of Gods food is wonderful and try to serve organic whenever possible. Teach them that whole foods is how God made food so the closer we eat food to its natural form the better off we are.
Lord God help us to train our children to love the amazing foods you gave us. Help us to be good examples and to eat a large variety of foods. Help us to set the pattern and for our children to follow them. When we are picky eaters we are complaining to you Lord that we are not pleased with what you gave us to eat. Help us to always be thankful and to appreciate that we even have food unlike many other countries that are starving to death. Thank you for the abundance of food our country has and help us to show appreciation to teach our children to show that appreciation and not be picky complainers. Thank you Lord for all you do and all you give. In Jesus name Amen |

• Jan. 5, 2008 - Home Made Scented Hot/Cold Packs
Home Made Scented Hot/Cold Packs

These bags are made with organic grains, good quality essential oils and herbs. We also took festive looking material to sew the outer bags and then used plain material to make the inner bags that hold the grain, oils and herbs inside of them. Each bag has a drawstring sewn into them. The purpose of the outer bag is so that you can remove it and hand wash it if or when it gets dirty. We made them in all different sizes.
These packs can be stored in the freezer and used as an ice pack for injuries, headaches, inflammation of the sinuses, bruises etc. They hold the cold very well for long periods of time. If you need a hot pack you just take it out of the freezer and throw it into your microwave for approx. 1-3 minutes, depending on hot you want it or how cold it started. I use the hot pack for back pain, neck pain, arthritis relief, mid cycle cramping and much much more. The oils also help aide in the soothing and healing of the injured area. These packs will stay hot or cold for a very long time. When you are done you just store them in your freezer again inside a ziploc baggie. It is much easier to heat it up quickly then it is to get it cold so we keep them stored in our freezer at all times.
They made great gifts. We use ours in our home all the time!!!
I will be slowly posting pictures of the gifts we handmade for Christmas this year. These Hot/Cold packs are quite pricey in the stores so hand making them was fun, saves money and we enjoyed giving a gift that was of healing to those we love.
I have already been asked if I sell these. Yes they can be ordered if you cannot make your own or do not have the time to do so. We would love to make them for you. Just email me. I can quote you a price.
I will also be posting pictures of birthday festivities. We have 4 birthdays that take place between Thanksgiving and Christmas so we are busy. The children once again handmade lots of gifts for each other and handmade party items. Lots to share so keep checking back!
Hugs to you all Brenda |

• Dec. 17, 2007 - Making your own Bath Salts......
Making your own Bath Salts......

To make your own bath salts use the following recipe.......
3 cups of Epsom salts
2 cups of baking soda
1 cup of table Celtic sea salt
Food coloring (healthy kind from a health food store, usually food based)
Essential oils of your choice (a good therapeutic brand like Wyndmere Naturals)
Dried herbs of your choice chopped up
Several small empty cloth tea bags to fill with mixtures
Small quilted jelly mason jars (empty)
Ribbons
Bows
Pretty colored netting
Latex gloves
Use a large mixing bowl and a utensil of some sort such as a spoon. Add all the dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl and begin mixing them together with your hands or the spoon. The next step is to slowly add the food coloring, if you choose to add some color to your bath salts mixture. Add enough to bring it to the desired color you wish it to be. (Mix with a utensil or if you use your hands wear gloves of some sort). Personally I don't use any coloring in my salts.
Now take the herbs of your choice and grind them in a food processor a small chopper or a coffee grinder. You can use things like dried peppermint leaves, dried spearmint leaves, dried eucalyptus leaves, dried rose leaves, dried lavender flowers or any nice smelling and medicinal herbs of your choice. Take your herbs and mix them in well with your salt mixture. This step is optional. If you use the dried chopped herbs you WILL HAVE to use the empty cloth tea bags to put your mixture into. If you don't use the dried herbs the empty cloth tea bags are NO LONGER necessary to use they become optional at that point
.
Now take your essential oils add them to your salt mixture and mix them in well. Be sure to put plenty of oils in your mixture so it smells nice and strong. If you go back and read my archives choose oils that are fitting for what you are looking to achieve when you soak in your bath. Lavender is relaxing, cypress oil is good for spasms, frankincense is good for the skin and many other ailments, Peppermint is good for circulation and headaches, blue chamomile is good for muscle spasms, eucalyptus is good for the respiratory system and the list goes on. Rose smells good, orange is uplifting, ylang ylang is a pleasant smell, patchouli is good for the skin and also uplifts the mood. There are so many different things that the many different oils can achieve and they work in so many different ways. You can split up your mixture before adding the herbs and essential oils. In doing this you have the option to make many different batches. In doing so you then have the option to make many different scented blends with your bath salts. You can use the different blends for different needs. This also makes such a wonderful gift.
If you decide to add your dried herbs to your mixture go ahead and fill one of the empty cloth tea bags with the complete mixture that has the the salts, oils, coloring, and dried herbs in it. Then tie a knot in the bag and all you have to do is throw the bag into a tub of hot running water. Now all you have to do is relax and enjoy it! When the salts are all gone and you are done with your bath you can hang the bag up to dry. Then next time all you have to do is refill that same bag with more salts. You can also reuse those same dried herbs a couple of times if you wish to do so. Or if you prefer not to all you have to do is just rinse them out of the bag and keep only the bag itself to use again.
You can also use pretty colored netting bags and tie them closed with a pretty ribbon if you want to give them as gifts. Be sure people understand that they are not to open up the bags, if you put the dried herbs into their salt mixture, otherwise those herbs will clog up their tub.
You can also fill small pretty quilted mason jelly jars with the mixture if you did not use any dried herbs in them, then wrap a pretty ribbon around it or put a bow on it. Tie a tag with directions of how to use it for the person receiving the gift. Use approx 1/4 cup of the salt mixture to a full tub of water.
This is a very inexpensive, yet healthy, fun, great smelling and pretty gift to give to family and friends for Christmas. I think you will all enjoy these wonderful smelling salts and I think whoever you give it as a gift to will truly enjoy them too!
Healthful living to you all! Merry Christmas!!!!!
Dearest Lord, I thank you for the wonderful opportunity to make and give healthy gifts to those we love! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share the gift of health with others! Always learning and loving it because of you Dear Lord! In Jesus name I pray, Amen~

• Dec. 14, 2007 - Diets and Defiance....(Repost)
Diets and Defiance......(Repost)

I had a few people ask me about this post so instead of having them go and try to find it I figured I would repost it. When I repost things from the archives it is usually because someone has been asking me questions. Also the ages of my children and the length of my health quest is about 2-1/2 years longer than stated in this post. Hope this helps................
Dearest mothers do you struggle with your child’s behavior a little too often? Do you find your child is wild, hyper, and even out of control at times? Does your child/children do things that leave you scratching your head one too many times? Has any or many of your child been diagnosed with ADD? ADHD? Do you find your child gets sick a lot? Do you find your babies and young ones tend to get frequent ear infections? If you answered yes to any even just one of these questions may I tell you dearest mothers you need not despair! There is hope and there is a good way to help your child become calmer, focused and rarely sick.
So many mothers are rarely educated on diets and how foods affect our family especially our children. So many foods today have dyes, chemicals, sugars, preservatives and so on. Ladies please allow me to share that these things are very harmful to our child’s pure and innocent bodies. We have no idea just how much we are flooding their bodies with impurities that their little bodies have a hard time getting rid of. Mothers the most common way we see this overload is in behavior or our children getting sick frequently. No mother wants to see her precious children sick! I know this first hand. So will you allow me to share some things with you precious mothers? Things that can help you nurture your family to health?
Will you allow me to share a story with you dear ladies? Many, many years ago the Lord turned my whole world upside down and inside out. He changed my life dramatically in so many ways! I think the Lord knew that I was the type of person if I was going to change it would have to be 100%. So He took me on a journey and showed me many things regarding child training, food and health. I was inundated with so many new things but I was so inspired and renewed through it all. My oldest ds was the typical child with frequent ear infections, sore throats, pneumonias, skin rashes, hyper, diagnosed with ADD and so on. I just dealt with it and gave him antibiotics whenever he needed them and I just waited for the ear infection or sickness to pass until the next time. Well by my second ds I was getting a little concerned about all the things that were happening with him. It was a replay of my first ds but some things seemed even worse. He had frequent ear infections, strep throat was a regular occurrence about every 2 months, he had a regular eye infection, skin rashes, he was also diagnosed with ADD and the list went on. I wanted the doctors to tell me why he was getting strep throat every 2 months but all they could do was tell me to give him antibiotics every time it infected him and to just wait for it to clear up. I guess by this point I was not willing to accept that answer any more ladies. Mothers can you relate to the fact that I wanted answers! So I was on a quest. I sought the Lord and He led me down a challenging path. The first thing He told me was to figure out food sensitivities. Now children will be tested for allergies and come up negative. We had my oldest ds allergy tested and everything came up negative. But I knew he had food problems. So the first clue I felt the Lord gave me was what did my children crave the most? What happens to drug addicts, alcoholics and smokers when their body has something that is not good for it? They crave their addictions. So I took what my two ds craved the most and I decided to eliminate those things from their diets. (It was hard on them at first ladies I will not lie and tell you otherwise but I knew it had to be done and they understood this. Explain to your children dear ladies. Help them understand you are doing this to help them feel better. By doing so you are teaching them how to take hold of their own health at a very young age!) Within weeks their rashes cleared up. My second ds eye infections were non-existent! Mothers I was intrigued to say the least. I wanted to know even more. So I began looking into foods and how to eat them in their whole form. So we began whole food eating. What a difference ladies! I cannot tell you how many things changed. The strep throat stopped occurring completely, here it is over 9 ½ years later, and it has never reoccurred again. Even all other sickness was minimal if anything at all and the behaviors were completely mellow, calm no more wild hyper crazy behavior. Life was completely new and different from how we knew it ladies!
So I bought a wheat grinder! There are inexpensive grinders out there ladies but if you cannot afford one you can usually buy inexpensive ground whole-wheat flour from health food stores but be sure it is fresh or it can be rancid if it has been sitting on the shelf for too long. Or you can find a friends house to go to who has a grinder that you can go grind together that is what I did for my friends. You can also use a coffee grinder. This takes much longer but works wonderfully if you grind the wheat to the finest powder. Dear ladies please do remember that where there is a will there is a way. Remember to let the Lord help and guide you to where you will find all of what you will need to accomplish the task I believe He would want you to do. Anyway we began grinding our own wheat to make bread, we ate whole grains instead of refined ones. (Ladies I know this would be hard for many people who grew up on white bread. But I have some of the best recipes that you wouldn’t even know they were Whole Wheat!) I have shared them with many women and they have all said the same thing. They are recipes their families loved. Dear mothers May I suggest to you that you at least try these things before deciding you won’t like them? Go to my archives and read my posting on “Thankful or Picky Eater?” (Posted back in 2005, if you have trouble finding it I can repost it upon request.) It will help you understand why it is good to at least try things especially when it comes to teaching and training our children how and what to eat! Dear ladies I think we forget at times that our bodies belong to God. I think He would want us to take care of them and to teach our children to do so also.
1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Anyway we stopped buying food with preservatives, we used only foods that had minimal ingredients and only had things on the label that we could pronounce LOL. We avoided all chemicals and food dyes that were unnatural. We incorporated a lot more fruits and veggies and bought as much organic as we possibly could. We searched out resources to buy meats from animals that were free roaming, grass fed, free of hormones, and antibiotics (these things accumulate in our children’s body’s ladies! Do you notice that girls are beginning to get breasts at a much younger age? Boys are entering puberty at a younger age also! Those hormones are not good for our children and you can find milk free of these hormones in so many stores now mothers. It isn’t too hard to find and your family will reap the benefits. You will feel good knowing you are serving them life. If you live in an area where they sell Royal Crest milk, the milk is hormone free and they deliver right to your door. If you live by farmland, that is your best choice, it is great place ladies to get fresh milk like our ancestors did and the pilgrims did which is straight from the animal! That raw milk has amazing enzymes that are wonderful for the human body! We searched out and found eggs that were fertile fresh from the farm from free roaming chickens. (The eggs being fertile help it turn into a type of protein form that our body is able to use much easier!) We started drinking a lot of clean water (water is such a necessary thing in our diets! Our bodies are over 80% water and when we don’t replenish that water we are truly causing harm to our bodies ladies! I know that first hand too! ), Every body in my family is now required to drink half their body weight in water every day! (We never did drink pop prior to this we just drank juice before we switched to water.) Fresh juices are good they count as water intake so do herbal teas, smoothies, but I am sorry ladies coffee doesn’t count LOL. We began juicing fresh fruits and veggies on a regular basis.
We began adding essential fatty acids to our diets like omega 3/6/9. This is so important for brain development and function of our children ladies! You would be amazed at how depleted our children really are of these oils. We started staying away from refined anything including oils especially the hydrogenated and the partially hydrogenated ones and we began using Cold pressed 100% virgin olive oil, unrefined coconut oils and palm oils in our diets and we went back to using butter. These fats are good fats and did you know ladies that when we eat good fats it helps replace and flush out the bad fats from our bodies that we store and before you know it you are losing weight without even trying. You find that the weight is just melting off your body. I am living proof ladies it is true! I lost a total of about 50 pounds over a short period of time. I didn't do anything special I just worked on getting my metabolism going normally again and the essential oils was one of the main keys in doing this along with small frequent meals. We then began drinking barley green on a daily basis to help add more enzymes to our enzyme pool. Barley green does a whole host of good things. Do you know after having one of my babies my gums were in bad shape but the barley green reversed any gum damage I had. The dentist told me it would stay that way but it didn’t and it was because of the barley green! None of my children ever had cavities. But I have recently let some bad foods into our house due to some personal reasons and believe it or not I have 3 children who suddenly went from never having a single cavity to having 19 between the 3 of them. I think it is because their bodies were not used to that refined foods and since it is so bad it ate right through their healthy bones. My goal is to get that stuff completely out of here again and see if their teeth go back to no cavities after these ones get filled. That shows you how amazing their diet was and then I allowed some slack into my home and before I knew it my children are paying for it! It goes to show you mother that a little something can truly hurt us. We had read that adding a fiber blend to our diet would help keep our colons cleaned by being brushed out. Our colons affect a large part of our health they can keep us healthy or make us sick. Keeping our intestinal track swept out clean is so very important to good health ladies! We also switched to taking a good whole food type supplement everyday. By doing so we know we are not wasting our money and we know we are gaining much from those whole foods within the supplement along with them helping replenish our enzyme pool. Our family is ever so healthy! I know we, as humans who are comfortable where we are at would rather not think about these things. Mothers may I suggest that if nothing else you at least ponder my story and decide to maybe do your own experiment.
There was a time there for 1 year that we did almost 100% raw food eating. I did that for my family (with my dh permission and approval) so that we could completely cleanse out all bad things in our bodies. Mothers when I did this we didn’t get even a sniffle for over a year. It was great! Not a single allergy showed through, no sickness whatsoever! We now try our best to do a minimum of 60% raw and 40% cooked sometimes when possible we do 80% raw and 20% cooked. But please dear mothers this is not about doing raw, being vegetarian or any of that. If you want to share your story with me I would more than love to hear it. But please do not feel I am telling you that you must become a raw foodist or vegetarian. That is not what this is about. Ladies what this is about one mother sharing her story of how she cleaned up her family and their health in many ways and wanted to share her new found information with those who were unaware of what she learned, which of course was me. This is me, one mother, sharing on how I cleaned up our family’s diets and now serve them foods as close to the way God made them as much as possible.
Ladies did you know that our bodies have enzymes that help us digest food? We all have an enzyme pool and we deplete that on a daily basis, every time we eat. If we are not replacing and replenishing those enzymes in the enzyme pool on a daily basis we are literally leading ourselves into sickness. This is so important ladies especially for young children because with each and every passing generation mothers the enzyme pool is just that much more depleted if we are not replenishing it through out the generational gene pool. I truly believe that is a big contributor to all these childhood diseases we are seeing surfacing in today’s world. Look around you ladies and truly look at what is happening to the health of our country. Things that children never had before they are now getting at such a young age. That is so sad ladies don’t you agree? What I find even sadder is to find out that all this could have probably been prevented if we were all better educated on health. Did you know that doctors get like 1 hour of study on nutrition when they are studying to be a doctor? I know this because my brother is a doctor and he told me. The medical field doesn’t put enough emphasis on preventive medicine. They are great for heart attacks and broken legs but if I have a virus or a cold I am going home and treat myself with the wonderful plants God gave me! I am going to go make some homemade chicken soup with a whole chicken and put lots of veggies and garlic and onion in it. Did you ladies know that there are truly healing properties in real chicken soup? Oh ladies this is so wonderful you must try it next time. If you see your family getting sick ladies then give them a treat. Get a whole chicken (hormone and antibiotic free, and free range if possible) and make them a nice big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. They will love it! You will feel so good knowing how you just blessed and nurtured your family with healthful things. Did you ladies know you don’t have to buy organic to get a good healthy product? You pay dearly to have the organic label. So some companies like Shelton’s they raise chickens antibiotic free and hormone free but you wouldn’t know it. You have to ask whomever you are buying from. Many health food stores wont carry things with chemicals or hormones so ask them if that is their stand, then you don’t pay for the organic label but you get a good product that is safe for your family. This is just some information to check out for your family’s ladies. Another thing is to find a local farmer who sells chickens or beef and do not treat them with bad stuff like the antibiotics and hormones, there are plenty of them out there, you just have to look. You are truly nurturing your family back to good health being the wonderful mother that you are! Here is a doctor that did a study on health and enzymes. Dr. Frances Pottinger studied degenerative diseases and nutrition, but he was a pulmonary disease specialist. He did a famous study called Pottinger's cats.
Pottinger's cats compared in a 10-15 year study cats who were fed raw meat and raw milk that were healthy to cats fed cooked food. By the 3rd and 4th generation, the health of the second group of cats was really compromised. They had arthritis eye problems and couldn't reproduce by the 4th and 5th generation. Now of course this study was done with raw meat and raw milk. Mothers I am not suggesting you eat raw meat but we drink fresh raw milk all the time. As a matter of fact, after I had my twins due to circumstances I couldn’t produce enough breast milk. So I looked into alternatives to supplement with. I found raw goats milk was very close to mother’s milk. That is what we did. My little twins have more allergies than any other child and I think it is because they didn’t get all mommy breast milk and because at first I was forced to give them some formula while they were still in the hospital and I truly saw that formula do them harm and not good. So I was forced to find some goats milk. I know it was the best choice out of what I had to work with and I know it had the enzymes in it and I knew that was so important dear mothers. Pottingers main study was to show the effect of lack of enzymes from generation to generation based on what we eat. You should look into this study it is very interesting mothers!
My twins never get sick but like I said they do have allergy issues that I am working on. Allergies affect our children and their behaviors too. It is beneficial to them if you can find out what they are sensitive to or allergic to and remove that item from their diets or from your home. I know it may be difficult at first mothers but it is well worth it in the end I promise you that! Think of how much better your child will feel if his allergies were to subside. If you have a common cold aren’t you miserable? Well allergies leave our children feeling similar to that and it shows in their behaviors.
Mothers may I challenge you to try an experiment? Serve your family whole foods for 1 month and see if you notice improvements in your children’s behaviors, your behaviors and even your mans. See if it helps everybody feel better in all his or her behaviors. Are you less irritable? Are you less tired? Less foggy? Look for these improvements in all your family members. Take away whatever they crave for a month. Make them drink lots of water and get rid of the pop. Do you know how much sugar is in soda pop dear mother? With all the sugar our dear children are eating, including us, we wonder why their/our moods are so erratic. It is from all the sugar highs and lows they are getting throughout the day. They are going on an up and down roller coaster ride and it benefits nobody mother!
I know this will not be an easy change mothers! I know first hand I did it myself. But from one mother to another I can tell you my life has changed in so many ways by incorporating Gods foods into our diet and getting man made stuff out. When we make foods from scratch it is cheaper than packaged stuff! I make my own refried beans! They are 100% better than the canned stuff dear sisters! It may take awhile for your family to adapt to the new tastes of foods but they will I promise you! Over time people tend to acquire a taste for whatever foods they are eating and if they are being served good wholesome foods they will begin to love that taste. Tonight I made Whole Wheat oatmeal cookies. It was made with unrefined sugar (sucanat) and whole-wheat pastry flour that I ground fresh in my mill (soft wheat berries) that is very similar to white flour. Nobody eating them would know they were healthy.
We began researching herbs and the plants God gave us for healing instead of all the things in the pharmacies. You would be amazed at the alternatives you can use instead of pharmaceuticals. I am not saying we should never see a doctor ladies or you should never take medicine again. Our medical world has its purpose I just think we over use it mothers. Start being your family’s doctor and learn what you can about health and how to care for your family! Ladies this is so much fun! Believe me I have learned so much! At first I couldn’t even pronounce the words of some of the herbs I was reading about but now since time has passed I now have friends who call me looking for remedies for their sick children. Did you ladies know that if you get bit by a bug of any kind, but especially a bee, and especially if you are allergic you can grate up an onion, put the wet pulp on the area you were bit and cover it. Leave it and change it out if necessary. That onion will draw out the venom that the bug inserted into your bites so they don’t itch. May I share that once my second oldest ds was approx 2 at the time. He was outside and got bit by a wasp. I had just read the day before, because I was on a learning quest for a dear friend who had called telling me her son was bit by a bee what did I recommend to use. I went and got out my books and starting researching what she should do. That is when discovered onion. So the next day my ds was also bit I was prepared, I already knew what to do, no research had to be done on my part. My DH is allergic to bees and by the look of it my ds was too. After I applied the onion I put him down for a nap. After he woke up you couldn’t even tell he was bit there was nothing there but a pinhole where he was bit. My sister had previously been bitten by that same type of wasp she said it was extremely painful and throbbed for days. My ds never complained once. I would of never known that if I didn’t research it ladies. You can do it too dear mothers! You can research health alternatives for your family. Whether it be food, or herbs or whatever else you will find it to be so much fun to learn. Make it a school project ladies then you are all learning together! Did you know that nobody in my family has been on antibiotics for over 9 years now? I have used alternatives for the last 9 years and none of my other 6 children ever got a single ear infection? These are absolute truths ladies. My children don’t get sick often but if they do it is with the common cold. We rarely if ever get the flu. I have very healthy children! It is so very nice! A big difference then where I started with them!
As for food you may say my man likes his hamburger helper. He will not give it up. That is okay ladies there are healthy versions out there that taste great. If he still hates it then serve your man what he desires and get his permission to serve your children whole foods. I am sure he will agree. He will probably join them down the road when he gets a little braver about giving up what he is familiar with. But he can join in whenever he chooses. You mother can do this now if your husband gives his approval! There are so many options mother! I am not saying you must do this but I am challenging you to seek health for your family ladies especially if you have health issues in your family at this time. If you have behavior issues or problems with frequent sickness look into these things the Lord lead me to back when I was looking for answers. Dear mothers I promise you, you will not regret doing so! If you don’t like it, no harm done, just go back to what you were doing before and then life goes on. But I think you will be inspired by all the changes you will see. I think you will be pleasantly surprised and you will want to keep growing in your learning. Mother you are amazing do all you can for your family! Watch the results because when you see the changes I think you will want to continue on! Know I will be routing for you! I will be your cheerleader for I believe in you! If you have questions or need a few recipes go ahead and contact me. I will help you however I can. I will pray for your success.
Dearest Lord I pray for these women who have decided to choose life for their families. They want to take the first step Lord. Would you walk with them Father so they see the importance of doing this for their families. Show them the benefits and show them that you desire for our families to be healthy and in our best working order. Help us to remember this is your temple and we are to take care of it with the whole foods and herbs you have given to us so that we could obtain health and enjoy it to the fullest. Thank you in advance for the gift of LIFE and health! In Jesus name I pray, Amen~
