A Mom Just Like You.....My Journey through Life with 8 Children....
• Mar. 18, 2009 - Another Take on......."They Say that Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder".....I Say Except when.....
Another Take on......."They Say that Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder".....I Say Except when.....

I have been pondering the magnitude of truth, in the saying "Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder." That statement is so very true in many circumstances but I find that there is one circumstance where it should NOT apply. The one exception is when it comes to how we view other people. I believe we should view the beauty of others in only one way, which is God's way, deep down from within.
When we meet someone new, what factors do we use to define, decide and base our opinion of that persons beauty? Would you say that the manner most of us use to gauge someone else's beauty is a shallow one? Would you say that many of us are far too quick to judge and form an immediate opinion of a person based solely on our first impression of them as well as their outer appearance? How sad for that person to have been judged long before we even took the time to get to know them on the inside. God says He will judge us in the manner in which we judge others. Is that how we would want God to judge us when we stand before Him?
How someone looks on the outside bears no weight or value in the true realm of beauty, whether it be in this lifetime or in eternity. The way someone looks on the outside matters not to God. Outer beauty fades with time but inner beauty lasts forever. Some of us may not be as pretty or as handsome as the next and some of us may have birth defects or damage due to injuries. But none of that matters or bears any weight, on who we are deep inside, and what our hearts hold within.
The way we dress, the color of our hair, the tattoos we may get or the body piercings some of us have done do not make up who we are within our hearts. The way we dress up our outer appearance is between God and us. ALL of us do NOT hold the same convictions when it comes to things like that so therefore it is not right for us to condemn those who may have different convictions in those areas. God uses all of His Willing Vessels to reach out and extend His love to everyone for God is No Respecter of Persons. Having a tattoo or purple hair is not going to stop God from using you to further His kingdom. If anything God will use that tattoo and purple hair to reach out to someone else who also has a tattoo and purple hair and doesn't know Him. And most likely they will open up and listen to someone who looks more like them than they would of if a clean cut business man was to walk up to them and try to share the love of Christ with them.
God sees something way deeper than we as humans can see. The beauty God looks at is NOT skin deep! Not only do we as humans have shallow vision but we also have tunnel vision. Our vision is unlike God's for God has x-ray vision as well as panoramic vision so His vision holds absolutely no limits. Yes it is true that God sees the outside of people too and He looks right past it and through it all and seeks to look right into the depths of our hearts. For the Heart of the Matter is our hearts and that is all that matters to God. For what He sees in the heart of all people is the only BEAUTY He is looking for the only beauty that matters and the only beauty that counts in this lifetime and throughout eternity!
So may we all take the time to look within a persons heart and soul and look past the superficial surface stuff for that matters not! Let us all extend our hearts and love to those we know and to those we don't know. May we all give to others and judge others in the same manner as we wish to be judged by God the day we stand before Him!
The love Christ had for us pierced the surface of the flesh and went right down inside of Him.
What's your take?
My Dearest and Precious Jesus,
Thank you for loving us unconditionally without limitations and with such depth! I pray that you can teach us all to see others in the same way you do. I pray that you can teach us all to love others the way you do! May we grow in you and model the Agape love that you give to everyone of us all so willingly and freely! Thank you for being my Lord and Savior! In Jesus name I pray! Amen~ |

• Oct. 3, 2007 - Determination and Standing Strong Together ....
Standing Strong Together and Determination....
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I get so angry at the enemy!! His goal is to ruin, destroy and take away all that we have worked to gain! I am not speaking of material things I am speaking of anything we gained spiritually, emotionally or even physically. He wants to take away anything that is good or enjoyable to us that is pleasing to God. When I work so hard to build areas of my life, my marriage or my family the enemy tries to immediately tear down all that I worked so hard to build. He knows my weak areas and those are the areas he targets. He takes what hurts the most and uses it to bring pain into my life.
It is at those times that I need to be at my strongest yet I often fail. I forget who it is I am truly at war with and my frustrations and hurts end up directed at the wrong people. I need to always remember, it is the enemy I should be mad at, not those around me. I can easily be deceived by the enemy's tricks if I am not careful. He can trick me into believing it is the ones around me who are causing me the pain not him.
Being I love the Lord and I know better it is at those times I need to remember to pray, regain my focus and put on the armor of God. If I am not on guard and protected with the armor of God at all times I am leaving myself open to fall prey to those tricks the enemy so often plays on me.
Hurt is a tough and painful emotion. When the enemy inflicts pain upon us through the actions of those we love, it is often hard to see past that person. It sure can be a struggle to remember the battle that is going on is a spiritual battle. The battle isn't between me and the one I love the battle is between the enemy and a child of God.
Because I love the Lord I am hated by the enemy as much as the enemy hates God. I can live with that as long as I have God on my side. With that in mind I need to never forget that although I am in a spiritual battle today someday this battle will end and I will live through eternity with my Lord and Savior. No more pain, no more suffering no more tears! That is the day I look forward to with all my heart, soul and mind!
So next time you are feeling hurt, lonely or betrayed, by the ones who are supposed to love you. Remember it is really the enemy working behind the scenes trying to cause destruction and pain. It is the enemy trying to rob and destroy your joy. So take hold of your armor and fight to win! The Lord is on your side and you are never in the battle alone! We not only have the Lord but we have each other too! Let us always remember to call upon one another when it comes to a battle. We are twice as strong when we have the support of our fellow Christians! If any of you ever need prayer feel free to call upon me you can always count me in to fight with you! I would be honored to fight with you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! So let's build a wall and stand strong with one, today until eternity!!!
Dearest Lord, I thank you for the reminders that my battles are not with the people I love but rather with the enemy. He may want to destroy but you want to give life and give it more abundantly. You want us to be happy so that is what I choose to focus on. Thank you that there are fellow Christians to fight our battles with us because we are always that much stronger the more support we have!! Help those who may be struggling right now and give them peace and comfort. Remind them you are there and you will never leave them nor forsake them! Thank you for all you do! In Jesus name I pray, Amen~ |

• Jul. 30, 2007 - Their JOY.....
Their JOY......
I am always so amazed at just how contagious the joy of my children can be.....
It is hard to be sad when they smile at you....
It is hard to feel angry when they hug you.....
It is hard to frown when you can see and feel their joy....
It is hard to carry bitterness inside when you see them carry joy inside....
It is hard to complain when they are so happy and content....
It is hard to give up when they have such hope....
My children have a such a blessed way of turning my selfish pity into a contagious joy of my own........
I am always amazed at how they can do this without even trying......
They accomplish it through their innocence, their unconditional love, their forgiveness and their precious willingness to love and to give.....
Thank you my precious ones.....
Most of all thank you my Lord......
I am eternally thankful for these blessings you have filled my heart and my life with.....
You give me joy that's unspeakable...... and I like it, I like it, yeah, yeah....
I couldn't ask for more......
Dearest Lord, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the gift of my children! I thank you that they have a way of showing your unconditional love when I need it the most and deserve it the least! I am eternally grateful!! Your joyful servant Brenda....In Jesus name I pray, Amen~

• Jul. 25, 2007 - Finding the Beauty Amongst the Thorns
Beauty Amongst the Thorns....
When life is hard and full of pain....
When it feels as though life's thorns are pressing into me....

I am reminded that along with those thorns also comes beauty....

When I focus on the beauty instead of the thorns the pain is oh so much easier to bear....
I have hope and the hope keeps me going and gets me through those hard times....

When focusing on the beauty, that comes along with those thorns, somehow fails me I then remember them.......
My children......
They are watching me to see how I am going to handle my pain and my trials....
What do I want to teach them......
What do I want them to learn......
How do I want them to handle their pain......

Once again I focus on the beauty but this time the beauty is them.....
My children.......
The pain is once again that much easier to bear......
Because of the beauty.........

Dearest Lord thank you for the beauty of your love and your sacrifice. Thank you for giving up hope in all situations even our pain! In Jesus name I pray, Amen! |

• May. 4, 2006 - Using Our Gifts, Salvation, and The Lords Neverending Love
Dear Sweet Sisters,
I wanted to share with you all one of my very special events that happened in my life many many years ago. First let me begin by saying that I did not become a true christian nor did I get saved, truly saved, up until I was about 28 yrs old. But God loved me and was faithful to me as He pursued me and He continued to work in my life without me ever knowing it. He was preparing my heart to find Him and grow in Him and accept Him many years later when the time was right, which of course was His timing, what better time is there?
Now as you all know I love to write, that is quite obvious LOL. Writing was and still is a passion of mine ever since I was a young girl. God took a gift that He blessed me with and then used that gift to eventually reach my heart and eventually bring me to Him. He has also taken that gift through the years and now uses me as His vessel to reach many others who seek wisdom from Him. One of the reasons I love to write is because writing always brought me peace and comfort during the rough and turbulant trials I had to endure throughout the growing years of my life. When I was younger writing truly inspired me and helped lift me up out of my many pits of saddness that I often found myself in dear ones. So many times I felt so hopeless in life and writing helped encourage me into feeling positive during those times I felt so down. I wanted to share how awesome God truly is for anybody else who may be doubting right now and wondering if He,our Lord, does truly care for them especially since you may be feeling sad at this very moment. May I reassure you dear ones that YES the Lord does care and He loves you more than you can ever know or ever comprehend.
Now I wanted to share with you all about the writing gift the Lord has blessed me with. The very first poem I ever wrote was completely and totally inspired by the Lord for how else could I have written about such a thing that I had absolutely no knowledge of especially since I really didn't know God or even understand Him or things about Him. I had vague knowledge of Him that He was supposed to be out there but I knew nothing else. My family was Catholic and unfortunately we only wore the title Catholic and we certainly had no personal relationship with God or Jesus throughout my years of growing up. I don't say that as a cut down to my parents dear ones for they did the best they knew how with the knowledge they were given from their parents in their lives. I know my dad was always seeking for answers and tried his best to guide us along with him during his search. But then he left, due to my parents divorcing, and we never got any further than that point.
So at the age of 12 years old I can remember sitting on my bed, in my bedroom, and my pen began to easily flow across the paper without me putting any thought into what I was going to be writing and I began to write the poem that will follow this post. It is times like these it shows me how God reaches down to those who don't know Him but are searching for something within themselves. The Lord places a yearning inside each and everyone of us, a yearning that is only satisfied once we have accepted Jesus into our hearts and lives. I believe the Lord builds this urge to seek Him in all of us and it never goes away until we finally find Him and after we find Him He fills that empty void up and we will never feel that empty void again. Before each of us found Jesus, if you were like me, you tried to fill that void with many other things in life. Of course nothing ever satisfied that void because it was a void that only Jesus himself could fill in our hearts and lives.
So dear ones I am now going to write out the poem now. (please respect that it is copyrighted along with all my writings. You are all always welcome to share my writings with others you feel might benefit from my writings but please respect that if you share them you must use my name and print my articles in full unless you have permission by me to shorten them for whatever reason. Also maybe even share my blog link so that they can come by my blog and get inspired somemore. Thank you all for being so understanding!)
Okay well here it goes would you all please read this poem and tell me what you think dear ones. Is God awesome or what?
Salvation written by Brenda (inspired by God)
God gave life to all on earth,
He gave eternal life through rebirth,
He tried to do it in goodwill,
But people started to hate and kill,
He will return to choose the best,
The others souls will never rest!
Now ladies remember I was 12 when I wrote this and I have told myself that one day I was going to sit and rewrite it at a more mature level. When I wrote this as a 12 year old I believe God felt writing it so simply is what was going to eventually reach me over time for these words were the beginning of the first seeds to be planted in my garden of faith that would later germinate, grow and bloom into an amazing relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
So why am I sharing this with you dear ones? Well I wanted to show you that if you or your children have gifts use them! Don't let them slip away dear ones you don't need to do much more than supply then with what they need and give them the time to do what it is they are gifted at. If we don't use our gifts sweet sisters I truly believe we can lose them. Oh dear ones don't let that happen for just imagine how many lives can be touched through the gifts you have and your children have. Think of how many lives you can reach along with your precious children!!! I hope and pray this encourages all you moms to go and find your own and your childrens gifts and help them grow in them for the Lord. There is a book I have that has a quiz in it to help you find your childs gifts if you are interested in knowing the name of it just let me know I would love to share the title with you all.
Well ladies have a blessed night and go build those gifts in you and your children you will not regret it I promise you!!
Dearest Lord I pray for each and everyone of these precious ladies. I pray that you will help them seek and find the giifts you have instilled inside of them and their children. Lord these gifts you give us are to be used to glorify you and bless you and others. Please give these women peace and help them see how obtainable this truly is with alittle effort and much prayer!! I know they can do anything with you Lord so I ask you be with each and everyone of them and let those gifts begin to shine! Thank you Lord for all you do!! You are truly an awesome God!
In Jesus name we pray Amen
PS Thank you to all who responded to my question regarding what you may be looking for in my blog. I appreciated your replies and your time you are all so dear to my heart! Thank you again.

• Mar. 12, 2006 - Walking in the Spirit
Dearest Sisters,
This has been a topic that has been weighing on my heart alot lately dear sisters. When I have spoken in the past about choosing to be content and choosing to be joyful the way to be successful at doing this is to being willing to Walk In The Spirit dear sisters. Only the Holy Spirit can help us to stay consistent and help us to see past the things that our flesh has a hard time ignoring dear ones. When we want to live according to God's plans for us precious sisters we need the Holy Spirit to help us to walk in our divine calling. Too many times it is easy to get caught up in what is going wrong around us. What happens when we focus on the wrong things happening in our life sweet ladies? Would you all agree that when we focus on the wrong things we all get the same results which is to become unhappy, joyless and discontent in our lives? That is why when we choose joy and contentment the sure way to cement those feelings into our lives is to walk in the spirit, most precious ladies.
Now may I share with you dear sisters exactly what I mean when I say to walk in the spirit? It means seeing things the way God would want us to see them dear ones. It means responding in love and compassion to ALL things in our lives whether they are good or bad. It means seeing past the bad we would normally see and to laugh off the things we would normally take offense to. Smile at all things and tell yourself that you will not allow yourself to focus in on and concentrate on the negative. No dear ladies agree to smile and laugh off the things that will only bring you unhappiness if you let them. When our man comes home grumpy from work it means to smile at him and to minister to him and show him love and compassion and not get mad and not retaliate by being grumpy back. Does that make sense dear sisters? A good thing to practice is to smile whether you feel like it or not. Smiling is a good way to demonstrate to those around you that you are walking in the spirit. Eventually it will become second nature to you dear ones. But while you are waiting for that to happen make it a habit to smile at your man and your children and watch them smile back! Smiles are contagious! My husband always tells me that my smile is intoxicating. Smiles are another way to cement our decision to walk in the spirit.
When Jesus walked the earth He demonstrated exactly what walking and living in the spirit looked like. He gave us the best example ever by living out what He expects us to be doing. Even though Jesus was God He still came to earth as a man. He felt the things we feel, He experienced the pain of life and emotions but He controlled them and chose to walk in the spirit and NOT in the flesh! This was a choice that Jesus made! If anyone had a reason to be offended and hurt wouldn't you dear ladies agree it was Jesus? He had good reason to be offended and hurt by many things but He looked past everything that could of been hurtful and responded to all things in the spirit. By being in the flesh He can truly say He knows exactly how we feel and He showed us that making the choice to live by the spirit and not by the flesh is truly an obtainable goal! He is not expecting us to do something He himself couldn't or wouldn't do! Wouldn't you dear sisters agree that the best example is to live out whatever our expectations are? I know more is caught than taught when it comes to teaching our children the things we want them to know and our Heavenly Father did the same thing for us, he lived the examples He wanted us to follow dear ladies.
Oh dear sisters our flesh wants to react to the circumstances in life that happens around us. But what good does that bring?????? I can truly tell you from my own experience absolutely NONE! From my own experience in life I know anytime I have responded in the flesh, to the things in my life, it certainly did not bring about any good in my life. When I walk in my divine calling and respond to things in the spirit GREATNESS has always come out of it! Not only did greatness come out of it ladies but an example is set before my children to follow and I am also ministering to my awesome and wonderful man at the same time! What more can I ask for? I also become a witness for Jesus and it is a good way to win souls for Him!
I will never forget many, many years ago my man was expressing some feelings to me that were starting to sound alittle hurtful and harsh. If I would of continued to listen in the flesh it would of become an instant confrontation between us but I didn't let it. I chose to listen and respond in the spirit. I know he was not trying to be mean or hurtful but if I was in the flesh I would of taken those words as a personal attack on me and I would of responded accordingly. Being that my heart was filled with the spirit I responded in such and I guess he realized at that point that the words he was saying were sounding harsh to even him so he came over and hugged me, and said he was sorry, that was totally on his own accord. It wasn't because I told him I was offended or hurt. As of today I truly have no recollection of what was even said to me. If I would of responded in the flesh I would of instantly snapped back in my own defense, I would of started pointing out what I felt were his faults and it would of become a very huge fight. Hurtful words would of been said back and forth between us and daggers from the tongue would of been thrown at each other. Scars would of been left on both of us and I would probably remember everything that was said between us up until today. But when we walk in the spirit ladies hurtful words are spared, daggers and not thrown and scars are not left behind! We see past the flesh and we see things in a different light! Are you with me dear ones? Are you saying AMEN to this? I know you all know what I am speaking of dear ones and you are all capable of walking in the spirit for I have complete and total confidence in all of you! I totally believe in each and every one of you and I know that you can all be successful in this area of walking in your divine calling! Dearest sisters if I can walk in the spirit you all can do so too! It is nothing more than a choice. It is nothing more than a prayer asking our Heavenly Father to fill us with the fruit of the spirit. The spirit lives within us dear ones we just need to unleash it and give over to it the things our flesh wants to control. You will all find that once you learn to walk in the spirit you will find your life to be so much more peaceful and joyful. You will be more content and your children will also strive to walk in the spirit with you!
Galations 5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Dearest sisters let us be the example for our children that we are meant to be. Our children need to see what walking in the spirit looks like. They need to see first hand what denying our flesh looks like and they need to watch us walk in our divine calling. Funny thing because when our children see us do it they too will not only want to do it but it will become second nature for them as well as they see it become second nature for us. Shall we do this together ladies? Shall we agree in mind and spirit to walk in our divine calling? Shall we agree to respond to all things with the love of God and not in the flesh? Oh ladies if you want to watch your home transform then learn to walk in the spirit. If you want to see your life and home transform into a place and life of pleasure learn to walk in the spirit. Watch the conflicts disappear not only in your marriage but in your childrens lives too. Watch how contagious your behavior can be! I believe in you all and I would love to hear your praise stories. We could all use the encouraging stories as you all post comments and share how your home has become a place of peace, a place you enjoy being, a place where harmony abides and love is shared and harshness is spared.
Ask our Heavenly Father to help you in your endeavors ladies and He will! He wants your homes to be a place of happiness! May you all be successful and filled with the Spirit of God in your daily walks of life! I believe in you now go and believe in yourselves!
Dearest Lord,
Please walk with each and every sister here. Help them to accomplish this task of living and walking in your divine spirit in their lives and in their homes. Lord I know this is what you want to see them all succeed in so I ask on all their behalfs that you take them by the hand and guide them in the way they should go! I know you would never leave us nor forsake us dearest Jesus so please show each and every sister here that when they walk in the spirit they will find nothing but true peace and joy in their lives today and for all the days to come!
Thank you Jesus for being with us always!
In your precious name I pray! Amen! |
