Moving

Well, I hadn't planned on moving, but with a variety of niggling things bothering me about being on other spaces, I decided to learn to use WordPress and establish my blog on my own Web space.  Juanita inspired me, although I didn't go the same direction she did.  I have to say that I love using WordPress.

Oh, I guess it would be good to direct you to the right place:

My girls will probably be shortly following me.

Michelle,

(at the new blog site: http://hobbits8.com/patti you can comment by clicking on the link under the post that says "comments" whether there are five or "no comments" you'll find the box to comment under any other comments that have been posted.

Right now, I would think that my favorite general book on classical education would be "Wisdom & Eloquence" by Littlejohn and Evans. I've only read about 50 pages so far, but it presents a well-written case for historical classical education and explains a little of why some of what is being propounded in some circles is not realy historical. I may post some more on the other blog later. Gotta go lie down a little during the rest of lunch break to see if my headache will go away.

Oct. 4, 2006 - Thanks for your comments on my blog

Patti, thank you for visiting my blog and for your succint comments about that particular group's "serrated edge" (a term I've just heard recently) speech, coupled with the leaps in logic.

To be fair, except for his blog, the "purple hair" issue is only thing I've read by Wilson, but it was enough to give me pause.

I have tried posting to a Yahoo group -- a public one, called the Complementarian Christian Coalition forum, and have found the same problem with proper reasoning, along with the "serrated edge" language. I have found the same problem on the Bayly blog. I have since learned that these three circles have a lot of overlap both in people who participate, and in teachers they hold in high esteem, so little wonder about the common approach to anybody who even slightly disagrees with them.

Your site looks interesting to me, so I will stop in and check it out when I have time. I am also 48 years old. I did everything half of what you did! ;-) I have three children, and I homeschooled them through 6th grade, then put them in a Christian school for high school, with the exception of pulling one girl out for 10th grade and homeschooling her for that year. Currently one daughter is a senior, another daughter is a freshman, and I have a 7 year old at home yet.

Again, thanks for stopping by my blog, and for your comments,
Lynn
