A girlfriend I ran into yesterday reminded me that my blog had not been updated in two weeks! Ha! Actually, I was happy that it was missed by someone!! lololol
Yes, I confess, it's been two weeks since my last blog. And so much has happened! The retreat was incredible! I have to back up a little bit and tell about it. The cabin was beautiful and spacious. We took lots of walks down the curvy and wooded country road. We saw a little wildlife I was able to report home on....a box turtle, some billie goats, lots of deer, and a be-headed snake (wish I knew that story). We pampered ourselves with good food, what seemed like an endless chocolate fountain (complete with a huge assortment of dippables!), manicures, sea salt hand and foot massages, pedicures, and eyebrow waxing (the lip was the killer...never had that done before.. ..gosh, forgive me if there's any guys reading this. lololol). We ate like fat and sassy queens, and shopped ....uuhhhh....responsibly. =] We had some extremely enriching and insightful study times together....great discussions....a wonderful prayer walk....quiet times with the Lord...and we each met several new friends we hadn't known before. Now we all feel like sisters! Next year's retreat is already being talked about and in the pre-planning stages.........I just love girlfriends and the good times we share!
The week after retreat was pretty crazy (isn't that ironic????). Although, I had already done quite a bit to prepare myself, my husband and the kids for it. It actually went pretty smooth. Briar had a blast at Boy Scout camp and earned several Merit Badges and a couple ranks. Clara learned to ride and care for horses at Girl Scout camp this year, and earned several badges as a new Junior. Grace had her first experience as a new Brownie at camp. Each day the two of them would get off the bus looking ruffled, hot, and tired. But they charged onward every day. Connor and I had a great week at his camp. He was so excited to meet some new friends AND have something that "just he and mommy could do together". Plus, he earned several beltloops, badges and achievement requirements. All in all, the week was hot and busy, but lots of fun making new memories.
Okay, I'm going to take a breather now and pick up with more tomorrow. Happy Summer Days ahead!!
Hi! My name is Deborah, and I want to thank you for taking a moment out of your busy day to visit Home For Him. I hope in some small way that you find encouragement and ideas for not only your homeschooling experience, but also your walk with God. I live in Kentucky with my Honey of 17 years, our three adventureous kids, and our small zoo of two dogs, a cat, a bird and three reptiles. Together, we have a heart for serving, and a love for studying God's Word and learning about His creation. Welcome to our world!
