In the words of the famous deep sea resident of Bikini Bottom ....Sponge Bog.....Oh Blue Tartar Sauce!! .....Literally, I mean.
Yes, last night at the dinner table, I was able to score some serious extra "cool mom points". We were having baked fish filets for dinner (which we do not have very often...that would be in the WAY different category for us), and I had taken a few extra moments to throw together some tartar sauce. (Believe me, it's really not that hard! =]) Anyway, upon gathering to the table the kids took one look and asked,
"What's that???"
"Baked fish!" I answered enthusiastically. "And doesn't it look yummy??"
"Well, what's thaaaat???" they asked pointing to the tartar sauce.
"Tartar Sauce..." I replied.
My youngest belted out, "You mean BLUUEEE tartar sauce don't you mom???" with a big grin.
And being the novel Sponge Bob fan that I am...
Well ,I thought......why not?? So I came back with a squirt of blue food coloring and doctored it up a bit.
Wow!! I can't believe how much better that fish tasted!! And I have a feeling we'll be able to talk about this one for a while.
Side Notes:
The New Dishwasher is a dream!!! The dishes have never looked SO SHINY!!
Our softball tourny is tonight. Wish us luck....it's single elimination. =]
We are the proud new owners of a 2002 Chevy Venture. It's maroon, and so beautiful. We spent 3 1/2 hours at the car dealership on Saturday and finally came to a "fair understanding". (We've been searching now for several weeks.) We sadly said goodbye to the 11 year old Lumina though....alot of good memories with that van. Buuutttttt, out with the old and in with the new! Right??Yeah!! Now we can feel safe about driving out-of-town!
The Kids Post Card Exchange group is still going strong over the summer. We just got a pc from a girl in Japan! And, we recently exchanged souvenir packages with some students from a school in Chili. I am loving the geography lessons with the kids. Not to mention the challenge for good penmanship.
The vacation plans for Hilton Head are in stone now. We're going the third week in September with a 2-day stop in Gatlinburg on the way down. Yippee!!!
The Summer De-cluttering Project is still going at full throttle. I've been working on the "picture drawer" that's been ignored now for about 12 years. I think I'm going to need about 4 new albums to get those organized. Also, I'm going through book shelves and curriculum.
We sold a few school items at Lisa's (Living is His Sonshine) yard sale last weekend....made 50 bucks. Every little bit counts, right?
Well, that's about all I have for right now. Hope your having a great day in the Lord!!
