My kids and I are going to think of a family activity beginning with each letter of the alphabet. These are ALL tried activities that are guaranteed to work!!! =] As you think of more ideas for letters previously posted, we invite you to come back and continue adding to the list. It's our hope to compile this list and share it with all who visit.

A is for .....affirming eachother by going around the dinner table and telling one thing that you love about the other family members, apple picking, ABC Praise
B is for .....baking homemade cookies, bike riding, building sand castles, backyard bird watching, building something together (birdhouse, birdfeeder, shelves for bedrooms..), the BMX track, go see the ballet
C is for .....camping! Go to http://www.gocampingamerica.com/ or http://www.campmor.com/, cleaning the house, candlelight dinner (the little guys love this!), caroling in our neighborhood at Christmas time, creek walking, cooking something, clap and cheer eachother on at a sports game, doing a craft, Crazy 8's (our favorite card game), collect coins
D is for .....dancing in the living room, digging in the garden, going to the drive-in movies (this is SO fun!!)
E is for .....emailing eachother a special note (my kids love getting email from mom and dad!), encouraging eachother when we're having a hard time with something, exploring a cave
F is for .....fishing at a nearby pond or lake, throw a frizbee, flying a kite, friends over for fun and food
G is for .....going garage sale-ing, giving your time together to a nursing home, community clean-up project, food drive, or elderly neighbors, grill-out
H is for .....horseback riding (at our uncles down in Paducah), hiking, play high/low (everyone gets a turn at telling what their "high" was for the day - their favorite thing that happened to them - , and their "low" - their least favorite thing that happened to them), Hide-n-Go-Seek, holding hands
I is for .....ice cream treats at Sonic, ice skating, playing "I Spy"
J is for .....jumping rope, telling jokes, jammin' to Tobymac!
K is for .....kicking around a soccer ball (soccer season is just starting), a game of kickball in the neighborhood
L is for .....taking the time to listen to eachother (good idea Christina - thanks!), lay on the beach and watch the waves (a summer favorite up at Lake MI), learning something new together (our newby is "geckos"), go to the library
M is for .....make-n-bakes, mountain climbing (we're talking little mountains for us right now..Red River Gorge was so much fun last summer!), mountain bike trails, visiting a museum, make a meal for another family
N is for ....go on a nature walk, take a Sunday afternoon nap
O is for ....ocean vacation, go see the orchestra in the park (summer event), organize the kid's bedrooms (they love it when this becomes a family thing!), make Christmas ornaments,
P is for ....puzzles, going to the park or playground, practicing soccer in the field behind our house, spend time at Pierson (our family's cabin up in Michigan), go out for pizza, playing with and loving our pets, play basketball, praying together,
Q is for ....quiet times just talking about "serious stuff" or not having anything to say at all, "question a day" for family dinner time together designed to connect, laugh, and appreciate
R is for ....roasting marshmellows, rent a movie, rake leaves, read a book out loud together, major Rockhounds,
S is for ....swimming in our aunt's pool across the street, practice softball/baseball, Saturday Night Service at church, spotting a "cotton-candy sunset", observe the Sabbath and make it a day for family and rest, make chocolate shakes or smoothies, scouting , $1 Scoops at Baskin Robbins on Tuesday nights, find big and little ways to serve eachother, hunting for sea shells, serving on Saturday night at our church together
T is for ....TALK...every chance you get that you aren't having a "quiet time"
U is for ....being understanding of one another, walk with an umbrella in the rain (as long as it's NOT thundering and lightning! I'm talking about the warm, gentle spring and summer rains you get ever so often...our kids LOVE to do this!), promote an unfailing loyalty to one another (lately this discussion has sounded something like, "Always defend your brother/sister no matter how much they might bug you at times!"), parents keep an undivided front for our children (very important for them to see and experience)
V is for ....a visit to the beach, valuing one another with verbal affirmations (Thank you Hskubes Homeschool Haven for your ideas!), validate eachothers opinion with good listening and answering
W is for .... taking walks together, walking the dogs, walking the tightrope of life (ha!), watching a beautiful sunset together, weeding the garden, washing dishes or the car or the dogs or the kitchen floor...., welcoming a new neighbor, learning how to whistle (this can be quite entertaining)
