Thursday, April 5, 2007 - My 100 Things

Posted in Just For Fun

Here are My 100 Things that you may or may not know about me:

  1. I'm short (5' 2")
  2. But I feel taller, except when I'm around tall people
  3. Like my husband, who is 6' tall
  4. My husband and I met in Jr. High
  5. We were 'just friends' for years
  6. We didn't date until after we graduated
  7. I dropped out of college - twice
  8. My friend and I took my (then future) husband to a movie on a whim
  9. That was the last time my friend went with us :-)
  10. We went on our first 'date' on February 13
  11. Our youngest son was born on February 13, fourteen years later
  12. I've lived in the same county all of my life
  13. I'm an only child
  14. My dad was adopted and we haven't found his bio. parents
  15. I've done a lot of genealogy work, but I found a lot more about my husband's family than about mine, which is SO unfair
  16. My hair used to be so long I'd sit on it
  17. Then my grandma cut it and I looked like a boy
  18. I haven't had very short hair since
  19. One of my pinky fingers is bent sideways and it's not the one I broke
  20. As far as I know, that's the only broken bone I've ever had
  21. I've only ever had 3 stitches - they were in my forehead
  22. That happened because a brick fell on my head
  23. I've only been stung by a wasp once - and that was more than enough, I'm deathly afraid of them now
  24. I'm also afraid of bees
  25. ...and the dark
  26. ...and flying
  27. I'm the pickiest eater I know, other than my older son
  28. My first full time job was at a bank where I worked for 8 years
  29. After that was my only other full time job, at an insurance company for 10 months
  30. I didn't have my first child until I was almost 30 (less than a month before my birthday)
  31. I feel younger than I am, maybe because other parents with kids the same age as ours are 10 years younger than me
  32. I've only been to one high school class reunion and rarely talk to old classmates
  33. I went to both my proms but never to a Homecoming dance
  34. I don't really know how to dance
  35. I'm about 20 pounds overweight
  36. I hate to sweat
  37. Exercise makes me sweat, so I hate it too
  38. I'm addicted to chocolate
  39. ...and sugar
  40. I don't drink coffee, tea or anything else that is brewed
  41. I hate coconut
  42. ...and angel food cake
  43. I love the smell of permanent markers
  44. I used to volunteer to help my cheerleader friend with making signs so I could smell the big markers
  45. When I was a teenager, I taught 2 friends to drive a stick shift
  46. I can type 80 wpm
  47. I'm a computer geek
  48. I have many hobbies - I'm interested in doing almost anything (for awhile)
  49. I'm easily bored
  50. I rarely sit still - some part of my body is always in motion
  51. I'm a visual learner
  52. I'm very shy in new situations, but once you know me it's hard to shut me up
  53. I'm recovering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and associated depression
  54. I feel that God put the right people, situations and opportunities in my path to heal me
  55. My older son is so much like me, it's scary
  56. I'm a perfectionist
  57. I'm learning to cut myself (and others) some slack
  58. I'm also very impatient and impulsive
  59. I've never been on a cruise
  60. The only other country I've been to is Mexico for a few hours one day
  61. I live much closer to Canada than to Mexico
  62. I've never ice skated
  63. I've never ridden on a horse
  64. My favorite drink is milk
  65. My favorite pop is cream soda
  66. My favorite color to wear is pink, followed by blue and purple
  67. I had a very purple bedroom when I was a kid
  68. I loved first Donny Osmond and then Rick Springfield, who both had purple as their favorite color, like me
  69. The first concert I went to was Rick Springfield
  70. I love 80's music
  71. I was married in 1989
  72. We honeymooned in North and South Carolina
  73. I've been to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans
  74. We drove to San Diego and back for vacation once - 24 hour drive each way
  75. My favorite state I've been to so far is Colorado
  76. Forensics and detective work fascinate me - I love CSI and true crime shows
  77. I'm a night owl
  78. I have a brown thumb, but I keep trying anyway
  79. I never thought I would, but I do drive a minivan
  80. I do NOT own a denim jumper
  81. My school uniform is sweatpants or shorts and a t-shirt
  82. 'Dressing up' to go out entails changing into blue jeans
  83. I only have one known allergy (an antibiotic)
  84. I gave birth naturally
  85. I regretted this decision several times during childbirth, but was glad later
  86. I used a doula at both of my births and actually wound up with 2 attending each one
  87. I'm a frequent Netflix user
  88. I like sappy romantic comedies
  89. I hate horror films and won't watch them
  90. I want to learn to play the guitar
  91. I played the flute in high school band
  92. I've forgotten how to play the flute and read music, for the most part
  93. I've also forgotten most of the Spanish I learned in high school and college
  94. My childhood dream was to be a teacher
  95. Until I realized I'd be stuck in a school building every day which seemed less appealing once I was in high school
  96. When first exposed to homeschooling, my husband and I immediately felt it was for us - even though we didn't even have kids yet
  97. I love to collect quotes
  98. I tend to write very long emails
  99. I'm a loyal friend
  100. I'm a procrastinator, so I left this one for last. ;-)
Ok, so that's it for that!  I probably could have done another hundred, but I'll spare anyone who happens to read this.  Will anybody actually read the whole thing?  If they do, they'll know more about me than most people do.  It'll be interesting to have those who know me best look at this list and see if there's anything on it that they didn't now about me. :-)

You know, we have so many things in common that I didn't know about already, that it's scary!
We were both married in '89, We both drive a mini-van. We both are allergic to one thing and it's an antibiotic. Lets see, there were some other things that were very close, although I love coconut, I love coffee, chocolate has decided to give me migraines and I am *not* a computer geek like you! ALthough I am very proud of my template work. Did you see all my new headings on my sidebar? I still have to figure out how to get rid of all the duplicate thingys on there and how to get it to slim down.....what is UP with that? Why is it so fat now? I am baffled. Anyway, a long time ago I started to post one of those 100 things about me and it was so boring it's still in my drafts folder.

Bye!
Nancy
p.s. we are expecting a storm here....
