Thursday, April 5, 2007 - My 100 Things |
| Posted in Just For Fun |
Here are My 100 Things that you may or may not know about me:
- I'm short (5' 2")
- But I feel taller, except when I'm around tall people
- Like my husband, who is 6' tall
- My husband and I met in Jr. High
- We were 'just friends' for years
- We didn't date until after we graduated
- I dropped out of college - twice
- My friend and I took my (then future) husband to a movie on a whim
- That was the last time my friend went with us :-)
- We went on our first 'date' on February 13
- Our youngest son was born on February 13, fourteen years later
- I've lived in the same county all of my life
- I'm an only child
- My dad was adopted and we haven't found his bio. parents
- I've done a lot of genealogy work, but I found a lot more about my husband's family than about mine, which is SO unfair
- My hair used to be so long I'd sit on it
- Then my grandma cut it and I looked like a boy
- I haven't had very short hair since
- One of my pinky fingers is bent sideways and it's not the one I broke
- As far as I know, that's the only broken bone I've ever had
- I've only ever had 3 stitches - they were in my forehead
- That happened because a brick fell on my head
- I've only been stung by a wasp once - and that was more than enough, I'm deathly afraid of them now
- I'm also afraid of bees
- ...and the dark
- ...and flying
- I'm the pickiest eater I know, other than my older son
- My first full time job was at a bank where I worked for 8 years
- After that was my only other full time job, at an insurance company for 10 months
- I didn't have my first child until I was almost 30 (less than a month before my birthday)
- I feel younger than I am, maybe because other parents with kids the same age as ours are 10 years younger than me
- I've only been to one high school class reunion and rarely talk to old classmates
- I went to both my proms but never to a Homecoming dance
- I don't really know how to dance
- I'm about 20 pounds overweight
- I hate to sweat
- Exercise makes me sweat, so I hate it too
- I'm addicted to chocolate
- ...and sugar
- I don't drink coffee, tea or anything else that is brewed
- I hate coconut
- ...and angel food cake
- I love the smell of permanent markers
- I used to volunteer to help my cheerleader friend with making signs so I could smell the big markers
- When I was a teenager, I taught 2 friends to drive a stick shift
- I can type 80 wpm
- I'm a computer geek
- I have many hobbies - I'm interested in doing almost anything (for awhile)
- I'm easily bored
- I rarely sit still - some part of my body is always in motion
- I'm a visual learner
- I'm very shy in new situations, but once you know me it's hard to shut me up
- I'm recovering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and associated depression
- I feel that God put the right people, situations and opportunities in my path to heal me
- My older son is so much like me, it's scary
- I'm a perfectionist
- I'm learning to cut myself (and others) some slack
- I'm also very impatient and impulsive
- I've never been on a cruise
- The only other country I've been to is Mexico for a few hours one day
- I live much closer to Canada than to Mexico
- I've never ice skated
- I've never ridden on a horse
- My favorite drink is milk
- My favorite pop is cream soda
- My favorite color to wear is pink, followed by blue and purple
- I had a very purple bedroom when I was a kid
- I loved first Donny Osmond and then Rick Springfield, who both had purple as their favorite color, like me
- The first concert I went to was Rick Springfield
- I love 80's music
- I was married in 1989
- We honeymooned in North and South Carolina
- I've been to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans
- We drove to San Diego and back for vacation once - 24 hour drive each way
- My favorite state I've been to so far is Colorado
- Forensics and detective work fascinate me - I love CSI and true crime shows
- I'm a night owl
- I have a brown thumb, but I keep trying anyway
- I never thought I would, but I do drive a minivan
- I do NOT own a denim jumper
- My school uniform is sweatpants or shorts and a t-shirt
- 'Dressing up' to go out entails changing into blue jeans
- I only have one known allergy (an antibiotic)
- I gave birth naturally
- I regretted this decision several times during childbirth, but was glad later
- I used a doula at both of my births and actually wound up with 2 attending each one
- I'm a frequent Netflix user
- I like sappy romantic comedies
- I hate horror films and won't watch them
- I want to learn to play the guitar
- I played the flute in high school band
- I've forgotten how to play the flute and read music, for the most part
- I've also forgotten most of the Spanish I learned in high school and college
- My childhood dream was to be a teacher
- Until I realized I'd be stuck in a school building every day which seemed less appealing once I was in high school
- When first exposed to homeschooling, my husband and I immediately felt it was for us - even though we didn't even have kids yet
- I love to collect quotes
- I tend to write very long emails
- I'm a loyal friend
- I'm a procrastinator, so I left this one for last. ;-)
Ok, so that's it for that! I probably could have done another hundred, but I'll spare anyone who happens to read this. Will anybody actually read the whole thing? If they do, they'll know more about me than most people do. It'll be interesting to have those who know me best look at this list and see if there's anything on it that they didn't now about me. :-)

You know, we have so many things in common that I didn't know about already, that it's scary!
We were both married in '89, We both drive a mini-van. We both are allergic to one thing and it's an antibiotic. Lets see, there were some other things that were very close, although I love coconut, I love coffee, chocolate has decided to give me migraines and I am *not* a computer geek like you! ALthough I am very proud of my template work. Did you see all my new headings on my sidebar? I still have to figure out how to get rid of all the duplicate thingys on there and how to get it to slim down.....what is UP with that? Why is it so fat now? I am baffled. Anyway, a long time ago I started to post one of those 100 things about me and it was so boring it's still in my drafts folder.
Bye!
Nancy
p.s. we are expecting a storm here.... |

Hey Jodi - I am a new blogger here and somehow randomly found your blog! :) Love your list. I have a lot in common with you too, including being from Iowa... although I have lived in a whopping THREE counties here!! :) Look forward to reading more...
