We had a wonderful time on our 2 day get-away to Mackinac Island, MI. The weather was brilliant, the sites were lovely, and the precious memories made are priceless!
We had a fun (long) drive up north to the beautiful Mackinac Bridge (longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere!) and across to the U.P. to our ferry boat which took us to the island.
This island has NO motorized vehicles at all -- all travel is done by horses, horse drawn carriages or drays, or bicycles. It's so neat, but we had to remember to watch our step!! Tee hee.
There are many historical sites (from the French and Indian War and the War of 1812), lots and lots of Victorian era homes, bed and breakfasts, and of course, the Grand Hotel (site of the movie Somewhere in Time). It was a delightful trip and my daughter took over 300 pictures!!
I think the neatest thing we did (and the most painful....oooph) was to rent bikes and ride the ENTIRE EIGHT MILE perimeter of the island! Oh my aching legs...
but we saw such beautiful sites that it was totally worth it.
I so enjoyed my time with my precious daughter (and can't wait for two more senior trips with my 2 remaining homeschool students).
I just loved looking through those great pictures. As you know I LOVE photos - makes me feel like I'm there with ya. What a blessed time with your daughter.
Oh, Julie. That looks like a wonderful trip! We went to an island with no cars a couple of years ago...only walking or golf carts or bikes. The scenery looks beautiful. I'd love to visit there.

That looks like such fun. I hope to visit the island if we get to visit my parents this summer.
What a neat idea of a senior trip with just the two of you. I'll have a senior in 3 (gasp!) years.
Random thoughts on our life in beautiful Michigan (the mitten!), serving the Father, homeschooling with our four amazing daughters, and cuddling Maggie, our adorable pug.
