I'm seeing political ads on TV.  Must be election time!

Reminder to Charities to Avoid Certain Activities During Election Season

The Internal Revenue Service reminds charities to avoid becoming involved in political campaign activities. As a result of a recent compliance initiative, the Internal Revenue Service has new procedures for the 2006 election season to address activities of exempt organizations.

If your homeschool organization is a 501c3 tax exempt organization, they should not endorse a candidate for any political office (local, state or federal), nor should they invite a candidate to speak without allowing the opposing candidate an opportunity to speak to your group also.  Your group can attempt to influence legislation (education bills, for example), but avoid promoting a candidate (even a homeschool friendly one) Be careful and informed!
