Homeschool mom's paradise

I recently heard about a Homeschool Resource Center
inside a public library. It's a paradise for homeschooling
mothers. They can browse over homeschool materials and check out
curriculum and take home to evaluate.
This is not a new idea. The Indiana Foundation for Home Schooling wants to establish a Resource Center in Indianapolis. My co-op leader would like to see one in Cincinnati.
I think being involved in the homeschool movement as I am by helping homeschool organizations (via my website www.HomeschoolCPA.com)
is so exciting because there is always some new idea cropping up to
help and support homeschooling families. It's not just support
groups any more. Now there are co-ops, resource centers,
extension programs, scholarship programs, sports teams and music
groups! What's next? I can't wait to hear about it.

Wow, Carol...you always have the most interesting info on your blog! Thanks for the link to the article. Our local library is almost finished with it's new, bigger building...a HRC would be the perfect complement, especially with the large number of homeschoolers in the area!

Hope you are able to get the idea off the ground where you live! The center's open house on Saturday was great. Lots of people attended, and I had time to answer questions about homeschooling for many newbies and a few prospective homeschoolers. I sure would have loved to be able to check out curriculum from a library and evaluate it at home before making a purchase. Blessings ~ Patricia
