1. Prepaid time with a bookkeeper or small business accoutant. When I do business consulting for startup businesses it is so much fun to hear what people are doing and help them be succesful! We discuss taxes, business deductions, recordkeeping, hiring employees, etc...
2. Headset for her phone to prevent neck cramp. Bluetooth technology is not necessary. Simple headsets that plug into your home phone can be bought for under $20.
3. If she gets a neck cramp, a gift certificate for a massage. I got two massages last tax season and it was wonderful! My massage therapist worked out the ache from too much "mousing".
4. Gift Certificate to Amazon or a favorite book store for books on marketing or her particular specialty. Here's what I bought recently:
Get Slighly Famous by Steven Yoder
Guerilla Marketing for Consultants by Jay Conrad Levinson
Internet Marketing for Dummies
5. If you didn't buy #1 then at least purchase an updated version of
QuickBooks or the new-guy-in-town,
Microsoft Small Business Accounting. Both of these software packages are wonderful for organizing a small business' finances.
6. A laptop so she can work at the park, the piano lessons, and the waiting room.
7. An facelift to her blog. Visit fellow Homeschoolblogger
Rugby Homeschooler to see what she can do for your blog.
8. A gift certificate to a frozen dinner service like
Dream Dinners. I used them last year during tax season and it was such a wonderful relief to know I had 6 meals in the freezer. My daughters could follow the directions and prepare the meal while I did tax returns. With my small family ( four of us) those 6 frozen meals fed us for at least 15 nights!
9. Organizing system: FIle cabinet, folders, labels, rolodex, bins, stackers, etc...
10. Business cards. Maybe splurge for a graphic designer and get a logo made. Many on-line printers will do a logo for you for a small fee (usually under $250). And while your at it get a separate e-mail address for her work-related e-mails.
Merry Christmas!
