Learning about the stock market
(view similar articles on Personal Finance and Taxes)
I was asked recently about a self-educational way to learn about the stock market. Here's what I shared
- I have used a stock market simulation game in a personal finance class I taught called Streetsage.com . Unfortunately it had some bugs in the past and wasn't calculating stock splits correctly, so I'm hesitant to recommend it or use it again.
- When I taught the students about the stock market I used Investing for Your Future a home-based self study course. It covers many aspects of investing, not just the stock market.
- The Young Investor.com website also has some good articles. I used one called Primer on the Stock Market in class also.
- Finally, I leaned a lot myself from a little book called the Wall Street Journal's Guide to Money and Investing. The library should have a copy.
I thought some of you might benefit from these resources as you teach your child real life issues like investing.
