Time 4 Learning - website/service

Rather than try to explain this one, I'm going to copy and paste some information I received from Jennifer at Time 4 Learning - including what Time 4 Learning is and a very information FAQ:

What is Time4Learning?
Time4Learning is an online educational program consisting of math and language arts curriculums from preschool through eighth grade. As a bonus, we include science and social studies. Students use it for homeschooling, as an after school tutorial for remediation and enrichment, or as a summer school replacement. Time4Learning has thousands of members across the country and globe.

Note: When international members initially sign-up, they will need to include NA in the STATE field in order to proceed to the next page.

Whether mainstream, gifted, or special needs, Time4Learning provides a flexible, student-paced approach. Children can be placed in different levels by subject. For example, a child might be in fifth grade language arts but fourth grade math.

Can I use Time4Learning as a homeschool program?
Time4Learning is a home-based program used for homeschooling or as a supplement to traditional education. The majority of our users are homeschoolers. Some choose to use Time4Learning as their core curriculum; others use it as a supplement. Our program correlates to state standards. We recommend that you review your state’s legal requirements before choosing any program. If you are new to homeschooling, we recommend reading our free “Welcome to Homeschooling Guide”. Our Getting Started Guide also explains how to use Time4Learning as a homeschool program.

Does Time4Learning provide progress reports?
Yes. Time4Learning has a reports section that provides progress reports regarding lessons, activities, and assessment scores. It also tracks student usage by date. Parents can log in and review the reports at any time. The tests and progress reports are printable so parents can track progress and, if desired, include reports in portfolios. See our How do I track my child's progress? option in our Getting Started Guide for a visual explanation of the progress reports.

Is Time4Learning Accredited?
Time4Learning is an online home-based program used for homeschooling or as a supplement to traditional education. The majority of our users are homeschoolers. While we do correlate to state standards, we are not a school, and therefore, are not accredited. Time4Learning is used by parents for portfolio reviews and by accredited schools.

Time4Learning’s reports section provides progress reports regarding lessons, activities, and assessment scores. It also tracks student usage by date. Parents can log in and review the reports at any time. The tests and progress reports are printable so parents can track progress and, if desired, include reports in portfolios.

What grade level will my child be placed in?
The initial sign-up process asks for parents to fill out a short questionnaire to help determine which level will be an appropriate starting point. Upon placing a child in a certain grade level, Time4Learning also provides a feature that allows students to navigate the grade level above for enrichment, as well as the level below for review, depending on the grade level. If at any point the work in a given level seems too challenging or not challenging enough, we can easily make adjustments to a more comfortable level for your child.

Can I use Time4Learning for just one subject?
Yes, it is possible to use Time4Learning for just one subject, however, pricing will not change. Time4Learning is a multiple-subject curriculum and pricing is set according to the purchase of the full program, rather than by each subject. While we can set accounts so that only one subject icon appears, members who purchase the program can still have access to all subjects at any time.

Can I begin Time4Learning mid-year?
Absolutely! Time4Learning is a flexible program with the ability to adjust starting points and levels. If starting mid-year, we suggest parents have their children take the tests and quizzes within a grade-level to determine an appropriate starting level. The assessments can be used as a guide to measure what concepts are understood or not understood. Where your child begins to have difficulty after taking the quizzes and tests is, most likely, the best starting point within that grade level. Most parents find this method useful in placing their children.

How do I use Time4Learning?
Each student gets an individual secure login to the Time4Learning website so they can access it from any computer at any time. There are no CDs. There is no software installed on the users’ computers.

Students begin by logging in where they see the entry to their different subjects. Students can use the system as much or as little as they want and can focus on one subject or work equally on all of them. When they select a subject, they see a collection of units to study in a prearranged sequence. Each unit contains multimedia lessons, interactive exercises, printable worksheets, and assessments. All material is in a recommended order. Most of our members follow our suggested sequence; however, there are no restrictions, giving parents the choice to jump around, skip, or review. Please take a look at our “Hints” section to understand the basic navigation. Teaching guides are provided for those parents who want to provide deeper enrichment and are available in the parents section.

Check out our Getting Started Guide for more information on using Time4Learning in the best way for your family.

Will Time4Learning work for my child?
This is a frequently asked question, as we are all striving to find the best program for our children. Each child has individual needs and learning styles. Whether mainstream, gifted, or special needs, Time4Learning provides a flexible, student-paced approach.

Many children like using the computer to learn. Time4Learning is a premier online learning resource which combines a fun interactive approach while systematically covering the curriculum. Since there is no way to be sure what will work for each child, we provide a two week money back satisfaction guarantee so you can try us risk-free. Also, Time4Learning has a cancel-at-any-time policy: there is no long-term contract. Time4Learning has helped thousands of children, why not yours?

  • Lynn Foster says: It is perfect as a core curriculum or supplement, as after-school fun or summer-time review. It makes a great aid for catching up a child who is struggling in a subject.
  •

  • Meredith (MamaDuke) says: The world we live in is so computer-oriented that it's important for children to learn how to navigate (through a safe option) on the computer. This is a safe alternative for children to learn computer-skills rather than on "google" or some other search engine. They're learning all the way around.
  •

  • Kathy D says: My children love this on-line program. There is no arm twisting or nagging to get them on, in fact they fight over who gets to do their "time" first, it is that cool, and the caveat is: It's educational!

Sounds good to me!  Here's what the Crew has to say:

Overall, I was quite surprised at how much I actually liked the program and how user friendly it is. But, that old bias of having to be in control of the assignments and curriculum choice still holds true in my heart. We will for sure use Time4Learning, but as a supplemental game time for my son.

In the beginning my kids had a blast with Time4Learning, but I became less enamored of it as I exlored their parent forums. The evolution aspect and secular approach made it unusaeble for my family. I really regret this as it has amazing potential.

Joshua would be on this site all day if I let him!
He loves his “school time.” If I could afford it, (it is reasonably priced) I’d keep Joshua on Time4Learning indefinitely.
He truly enjoys it and is making connections.
He sits and watches his brother on Time4Learning, too.

Ask the mom who needs to keep the little ones productively occupied while she crosses Swords with the teens and she'll tell you this is a great resource. Ask the person who pais and he may hesitate at first.

Aside from being a fun curriculum, Time4Learning can be a sanity pill for moms who school K-12 in a 10X12 room all day :-)
