Time away from the busy life

Tonight at Church, the pastor asked if anyone wished he or she was able to get away to a simpler life, free from the hectic schedules and cell phones. This made a big

"YES" pop into my head. As a self employed business owner life is stressfull enough, but you add the cell phones, constant bills, and feeling like I have no time to relax between the work, family, and Church ministry schedule, I long for the quiet time. You folks know what I'm talking about. Don't get me wrong, I love the activities I am envolved with and wouldn't trade quality family time for anything, but I need the time away. I guess that is why I love the Civil War reenacting I do. I get to step back in time to 1860 and dress, talk, and live like the soilders did, No technology included. I find that when I'm next to the crackling camp fire with my fellow soilders or lying in my old canvass tent with warm glow of my candle lantern listening to the crickets and frogs singing their night songs, this is when I can begin to think clearly about what is truly important in my life. I think about my wonderful God that I serve who has allowed me to have this life thru his son's sacrifice, I think of my loving wife and boys and how they make my life complete. I realize then as tears come to my eyes that I am truly a blessed man. Forget the money, bills, and hectic schedules, with God and family, we are all rich in this world. I leave this thought for all but direct special attention to the men that may read this, Stop and take time to reflect on just what is important in your life. Why is it that the stress causes us to talk to our closest love ones with anger. I am very guilty of this one. I urge you to treat and talk to your loved ones as if your pastor was there with you, after all Jesus is. If your right with God and have the support and love from your family, you could lose everything tomorrow and it would be no big deal. Our true reward comes after this life anyway.  This is my thought for the day.

God Bless,

Randy

Oct. 5, 2005 - How We Talk

Posted by FamilyBusiness

Our pastor reminds us we should speak to our family as nice as we do the person on the telephone. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to switch from being upset at our kids and (ding) we can be as nice as pie to the person calling on the phone?

Treat our family better than others!
