I was disappointed when my sister informed me that some of the Little House books were changing. Not the original Little House on the Prairie books but the "Martha Years", "Caroline Years" etc. are going to have a 100 less pages. That's a lot of chapters to take out. The books are all ready out-of-print. They are not making them anymore . You can still find some at www.christianbooks.com and a few other places but once their gone they are gone. I have been looking high & low. I found about 17 of them. I'm not sure how many there are. I'll have to see when my books come in.
If you find a book with a 'real' person and copyright in 2007 than those are the ones that they have taken a hundred pages out. If you find the books with the drawing or painting and dated before 2007 than you have the original one.
Next week we are going to start a Unit Study from Queen Homeschool on Daniil the Triceratops. (I would post a picture but my photobucket is not working.) It looks like something fun to do. I think we will stop some of our other subjects to do this. Except math, we'll continue because I don't want them to forget those facts .
Today I started Blueberries for Sal lapbook with Annette, Caleb, Brent, Ethan & Lance. I bought these over a year a go from "Hands of a Child' and thought we should finally start it . I purchased the project packs. It cost a little more but I think in the end it's the same or less. By the time you are printing all those pages out in my humble opinion it's about the same as purchasing the project pack. Using ink, color paper and time.
I read the story, we talked about it and did one project. Hopefully we'll finish it . I have a few more that I purchased and I would like to get those done as well. I would like to start doing at least one every three month and work our way to one a month. There are so many good ones.Once my Photobucket account works again I'll post some pictures.
As for school I'm still trying to figure out what to use next year. With Annette I am almost certain I am going to continue with Rod & Staff reading. Bob Jones Reading 3 looks really good and it's still in its box under the bed. I just can't give up Rod & Staff's Bible Reader yet. I love how much of the Bible she is learning and the Reading Workbooks really help to reinforce it, plus it sneaks in some grammar . Another thing is I purchased Bob Jones Reading for 3rd grade. If she switches over from R&S Annette would end up doing two 3rd grade reading programs. I probably should have ordered Bob Jones Reading for 4th grade.
With Josh I think I know what I am going to use with him. His has been the hardest because he is behind with his basic subjects so I'm trying to find some remedial programs or just use some lower grades with him . I'll have to post about it later. The kiddos movie ended and it's time to get them ready for bed .
Blessings,
Linda<><
