We are on week 32 of school and I'm getting ready for Summer School Hee, hee. I was talking to a homeschooling mom at church and she said that she does NOT do Summer School. I can't imagine going a whole summer without it. Funny, how we're all so different.
For Josh, I thought I would have him do an online program called Time4Learning. It's $20.00 a month but it will be worth it if it can help him improve with math. I am going to have him also work through Christian Light Math through the summer using a lower grade so he can review what he has been learning. We'll take a break from Math-U-See for the next three months. I really don't want to stop MUS but I don't want him moving on to the next level (Delta) until he has fully mastered everything in Beta & Gamma.
Time4Learning also includes Language Arts. I might have him work an hour a day with this program. Half hour of math and half hour of Language Arts. Still not sure. He will continue with Christian Light Reading but maybe alternate. Two weeks out of the month he'll do reading.
Grammar, I'm not sure if I'll have him only use Time4Learning or have him continue with Growing with Grammar. I would like him to finish this before the start of the new school year.
For writing we'll continue with Writing Tales 2. I might have him drop the grammar portion of the program though. I really think between GWG & WT2 it's a bit of overkill for Joshua. We will play the games suggested in WT2 to help him remember the different verbs, adverbs, adj. etc. I think these are all swirling in his brain. The games will help them to find there proper place in his brain. I always imagine all these file folders and the information is being filed in the appropriate folder .
Another idea for Grammar is to stop Growing with Grammar and use The Bridge to the Latin Road. Maybe work 40 minutes 3x a week. Just concentrate on The Bridge and Math for the next few months. Stop reading, writing & spelling. I'll have to come back and edit this post once I figure it out. Right now I'm just talking (typing) out loud.
Last thought. Continue with reading but cut the amount of lessons in half, do math as written above & The Bridge to the Latin Road. Try my hardest not to add anything else. After all it's summer
Blessings,
