Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation;

on thee do I wait all the day.

Correcting is not always easy

The other day we were outside and I asked the children if they would like some ice cream. Of course they all shouted "YES". We all went into the kitchen. I was happily handing out some chocolate cookie dough cones to each smiling face. Ethan, was next I was about to get one ready for him, he is all smiles with that cute little tanned face when I realized he didn't eat his dinner.  I so wanted to act like I forgot but new I couldn't do that. I told him in an unapologetic voice, "I'm sorry, but you didn't eat your dinner. You can not have a cone." It was so hard. His smile dropped and I new he wanted to cry but he was holding it in. I wanted to scoop him up and say, "It's okay, I'll GIVE YOU ONE." but I didn't.

Then yesterday we all went to the park. On the way I told Brent, that he could not play until he finished his math. I noticed that he didn't finish his math for the day. When we got there, I sat Brent down with his math book. He was a good sport and said, "O.K. mom." I felt bad. He had about 30 math problems because he didn't finish half from the day before either. I wanted to say, "Brent, go and have fun, we can do this later." but again, I new he had to pay the consequence.

Disciplining isn't always fun. As you can see at times I want to give in so bad.

I'm Linda, a child of God, wife to my best friend Lupe and mom to Joshua 98, Annette 99, Caleb 00, Brent 01, Ethan 03 & Lance 04. We have been homeschooling since 2002.

We homeschool because we believe that this is what God Wants us to do right now. I love being with my children, most of the time=) I have to admit that there are days when I ask God "Why am I doing this?" and he gently reminds me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and deep down inside my heart I know why I am homeschooling ;)
