now I know why....

Posted in Peel Family Journal

I had a great idea...
a Sandwich bar drawer in the fridge stocked with lots of fun sandwich makings so the kids could make their own sandwiches when they wanted to how they wanted to for lunch.

They ate all the pickles,
more then a pack of bologna,
dried out the bread though they only maybe ate two slices in total,
cut up all the tomatoes..
and left a mess everywhere
I thought it was a good idea too

Maybe after it is not so new they will get tired of eating bologna plain, and the idea will work better

Oh, I have a wondeful picture of you walking into the mess with boloney half hanging out of "innocent" mouths. Hee Hee! It is a good idea, and I'm sure they'll get the hang of it.

We tried something like this, too! I thought it would be great for the kids to have their own "area" in the fridge where they could come and go and get what they needed when they needed it.

We had, not surprisingly, the same results you did. I had to put some limits on it. Then I ultimately had to tell them it wasn't working. We might revisit it, but not yet. My older son has learned to prepare food well. My younger is still not there yet. Maybe this summer I'll give him a little more "room" to try kitchen things.

I just couldn't handle the mess. And, I wasn't supervising well enough to minimize it all. I hope it works better for you and your family! It's a super idea. . .in theory.
