In Like a Lion

April...

April in Indiana...

Tornados...

Last night all four of us spent an hour huddled in our 4 x 4 pantry--for the second time this week.

The first time, tornadoes hit just five miles from us.

Last night, they hit two miles from us.

I'm ready to move.

Our 3000lb swing/play set, made of solid cedar--was blown 50 feet + across our yard.  It's in serious need of help.  I can't believe the tarp stayed on!  You can't tell from the picture, but the whole thing is leaning.  The slide on the other side is totally twisted like a rope!  AND, our windows leaked again (that's a whole 'nother story--they've leaked since the house was build 1 1/2 years ago!)  and the fence was damaged when the sand box lid hit it at 70 miles per hour.  We found parts of our plastic play house on the golf course way, way far away!

Such fun.  I'm so thankful we are all safe.  Our house doesn't have any apparent damage.  Hallelujah!

This is so nerve wracking.  When we moved 18 months ago, we moved right into a tornado alley from a town that has never had a hit due to being in a valley.  I'm not enjoying the tornadoes!

I can't believe the death toll and destruction across the states from this storm.  It is so horrid.  This is truly a cursed earth.  The "new" earth is sounding better and better.  My heart and prayers go out to those who have losses much greater than a blasted swingset!

Since April has definately come "in like a lion", I'm ready for it to go out--and quickly--like a lamb!

The storm blew past us pretty quick here in Zville. We watched on the weather updates as it rained down it's fury on your side of town. That is a major drag... I'm sorry to see your beautiful swingset mangled! I hope the kids aren't too upset.

Blessings,
Kristee

Thank the Lord you are all safe--and your home! I'm in northern Indiana, and we just got noise and rain. I heard on the radio this am that your area got it again.

Hopefully, the rest of April will SETTLE DOWN!

Oh my! I am SO glad y'all are okay! And what a blessing about your house being okay. My sis lives in OKC so she is always worried about or running from the tornadoes. I can't wait for her to move or at least move to a different house and build one of those concrete shelter/safe rooms.

Hope you have a very peaceful and uneventful day today!
Love,
Marsha

You've been closer to tornadoes than I ever have and I grew up in western KS! Is moving to Denver still a possibility for you?

That's a little too close for comfort! Sure thankful that you and your family (and house) are all safe! Although we didn't have much here, we found out later that a town just east of here (in Iowa) had a tornado. Seems like tornado season is starting a little early this year. And, hopefully it will fizzle out soon!

I would literally not survive in a place like yours. I have post traumatic stress syndrome. I used to scoff at the idea of it- before. I don't now. I was hit by a tree in a windstorm 3 years ago. I didn't break anything but suffered lots of tissue damage and pain for a while. Besides that I was scared out of my wits. Yes- a tree- on me- not my car like everyone asks-big oak- fell from the roots right out of the ground- clobbered me in the back by a branch- didn't see it coming. So now if a slight wind is blowing I start to look around, and slightly panic. The first time I panicked I was at the same place I was hit- IT was windy, I was alone, I ran to the car called my husband and started bawling. No sir- I don't like wind at all. So I couldn't live in your neck of the woods. Glad everyone is well.

About Me

In the beginning there was a tree.
The Tree of Life.
When sin entered the world,
we no longer had access to that tree.
We waited for another tree.
The Cross.
Jesus, as the perfect sacrifice for our sins once again gives us access to the
Tree of Life.
But we have to wait.
Wait for Heaven.
Until then, we are...
Living Life Between The Trees.
