Today was training day. You know...theeeee training day. The "you will go to the potty like a big girl, or else" training day! The "we've tried everything else and failed miserably" training day.
After reading Gayle's post on training her son, I signed up for the book (Toilet Training in Less Than a Day, by Nathan H. Azrin and Richard M. Foxx) at the library, read it twice, kicked the husband and son out of the house (no distractions), and we went to it.
I just tucked her in and she's exhausted. ME TOO!! What a hard grueling job! I must say though...it was successful! This somewhat old fashioned (it was printed in 1979) method has apparently stood the test of time and works like a charm--IF you don't veer from course.
It seemed so strange to me to think of filling her up on Lemonade and buying a stupid (sorry!) doll that wets! Unbelievably, she fell for it. She absolutely adored teaching her Betsy-wetsy (I named her--heehee!) to go potty. And of course, she learned herself!
Yes, there were accidents. Yes, I'm doing more laundry tonight. Yes, she's wearing a pull up to bed.
Okay--so now they can't hold her back in Sunday School. She gets to move on with the rest of the 3-year olds when she turns 3 in two weeks. Just who do they think they're dealin' with here!!?? I'm on it! She's officially "trained". Of course, she gets to practice--lots!!! heeheehee Oh wait...that's not so funny 'cause I get to clean it all up--except the pants part which she is also trained to do herself!
I'm ever so grateful that His mercies are new every morning! I hope I remember that--in the morning! :)
