Husband vs. Bath Soak

My husband has recently developed the habit of getting up at 4:30am M-F to meet with a friend for Bible study time.  Sleepyhead often gets ready by the light of makeup mirror and a few days ago, after I told him I had bought new lotion for him and put it by the sink, he smothered his face.  But it wasn't the lotion he used.

When he came home 3 hours later for breakfast, his face was BRIGHT red and hurting.  He had been flushing it with water, but it was still hurting.  He asked me, "what was that new lotion by the tub?".  "By the tub? I asked. "No. I put your lotion by the sink.  The bottle by the tub is bath soak."  And that was it.  He had used bath gunk directly on his face!

I had just read somebody's post about how their child received chemical burns from wiping his face with a Mr. Clean type Magic Eraser.  The picture of the child, and my husband looked the same.

The next day, husband said he felt really bad, like it was still burning.  Sweat was still pouring out of his face.  By that night, he had developed numbness and swelling in his feet, great discomfort in his kidneys, and he said he truly felt like his heart was on overdrive.  It was very clear he was having a severe systemic reation.  He still, of course, refused to go to a doctor.

Day three came and he began to feel a bit better, but still said he felt a bit fluish, but most of his normal coloring seemed to be returning to his face. Then today, his face began peeling.  He looks like a big piece of sandpaper was taken to him!  He still doesn't feel 100%.

So, the moral of the story is, pay attention to what you put on your body and facial peels aren't all they're cracked up to be!

Is it a stretch to call this episode "Spiritual Warfare?" The enemy has to dislike his commitment to rising early for Bible study! I hope he gets better soon, reminds me of myself, not going to the doctor even if I'm covered head to toe in hives for no aparent reason.

Oh no! That is horrible!

Since he's already peeling, I don't know if baking soda would help... Praying for quick healing! Poor thing...

Love,
Marsha

Wow, that sounds like it could have been really scary. Next time force him to see a doctor. You never know wth allergic reactions to things. I had an allergic reaction to a carpet cleaner called Spot Shot, my entire face swelled up and I was truly worried about stopping breathing. (my husband freaked too!)

I hope he is better today. Poor guy. Will aloe vera help cool his face?

I recall my dad once thought he was putting eye-drops in the middle of the night. The dropper contained wintergreen essential oil. That sure stank! In more ways than one.

Blessings.

About Me

In the beginning there was a tree.
The Tree of Life.
When sin entered the world,
we no longer had access to that tree.
We waited for another tree.
The Cross.
Jesus, as the perfect sacrifice for our sins once again gives us access to the
Tree of Life.
But we have to wait.
Wait for Heaven.
Until then, we are...
Living Life Between The Trees.
