My husband has recently developed the habit of getting up at 4:30am M-F to meet with a friend for Bible study time. Sleepyhead often gets ready by the light of makeup mirror and a few days ago, after I told him I had bought new lotion for him and put it by the sink, he smothered his face. But it wasn't the lotion he used.
When he came home 3 hours later for breakfast, his face was BRIGHT red and hurting. He had been flushing it with water, but it was still hurting. He asked me, "what was that new lotion by the tub?". "By the tub? I asked. "No. I put your lotion by the sink. The bottle by the tub is bath soak." And that was it. He had used bath gunk directly on his face!
I had just read somebody's post about how their child received chemical burns from wiping his face with a Mr. Clean type Magic Eraser. The picture of the child, and my husband looked the same.
The next day, husband said he felt really bad, like it was still burning. Sweat was still pouring out of his face. By that night, he had developed numbness and swelling in his feet, great discomfort in his kidneys, and he said he truly felt like his heart was on overdrive. It was very clear he was having a severe systemic reation. He still, of course, refused to go to a doctor.
Day three came and he began to feel a bit better, but still said he felt a bit fluish, but most of his normal coloring seemed to be returning to his face. Then today, his face began peeling. He looks like a big piece of sandpaper was taken to him! He still doesn't feel 100%.
So, the moral of the story is, pay attention to what you put on your body and facial peels aren't all they're cracked up to be!
