Learning is an Internal Process: Applying the Use of the "R’s"! [Which began as the 4R's, and has become greater (in this case!)]
This is a continuation of the previous post regarding my personal notes taken from the study of "Freedom and Simplicity in HisStory", by Lisa Hodgen (see sidebar).
Implanting Truth in the Heart…
This cycle of application for learning starts with these "R’s" which will be explained in detail below:
-
RECEIVE [REAL! Resources]
-
The thinking process starts—RECORD…REFLECT (Ruminate)… REASON…RELATE…
-
The thinking process leads to the final "R", RELEASE.
-
As the student completes the cycle, he/she BECOMES a REAL! Resource (RECEIVE) from the first step. Thus the cycle continues. [Try to picture each step in a circle!]
Step One: RECEIVE: Reading and Research
-
Real books
-
Real people
-
Real places
-
Real experiences
Step Two: RECORD (Recite)
The Thought Process…
Step Three: REFLECT (Ruminate)
-
Meditate
-
Process Information
Step Four: REASON Biblically
Step Five: RELATE (Respond)
-
Patterns in what we are learning
-
Relationships
-
Integrating all information
-
The "Light Bulb Moment"
-
Relate the info to what we already know.
This is the end of the formal thought process.
Step Six: RELEASE

P.S. Not that you don't have anything else to blog, but I tagged you for 8 random things. You know the drill, blog 8 random things about yourself and then tag 8 random people. No pressure. I blogged mine at 3am!
