Today we were inspired to bake. It was actually fun to watch everyone participate in the process. Ellie and Harrison helped get the pizza ready for dinner while Chloe and Tucker made blueberry muffins. We ate several snacks and had lunch somewhere during all of this kitchen commotion, so you can imagine the scene. There were dishes everywhere, pizza sauce dripping off the counter, muffin mix coating the counter, and a lot of really happy children running outside to play. I know that I should have had them help me clean up, it would have made sense to teach them not just to bake, but also help clean the mess. But...I just couldn't. They were having so much fun, and everything went so well, that I sent them all out to play while I cleaned every dish and made the kitchen more presentable. I found cheese under the stove knobs and I discovered leftover cereal (from breakfast) that had glued the chair leg to the floor! I have to remember that next time we run low on paste... Today I'm thankful for little fingers that taste more than just a little, while baking and making stuff in the kitchen!
