House Full of Joy

homeschooling is for the mommy too

I am sure when I was school age, that somebody explained to me how God was the creator of math, but somehow it didn't sink in.  I am sure that I learned all about the American Revolution, but somehow, it didn't stick.  And, I am quite sure that at sometime, there were Science lessons that taught all about the amazing sea creatures God made, yet, somehow, I find myself marveling in God's creation as never before.

When we began homeschooling, it didn't occur to me that I would be the number one student.  It simply seemed the best thing to do at the time.  I figured that I'd have to know more than my children and that would make me a great teacher.  Thankfully as time has passed, it has become evident, that these little whippersnappers know a great deal, and their mother is learning right along with them.  Fractions didn't make sense before, but today as Tucker and I multiplied and simplified - the lightbulb went on...for me!  I struggled with Math, yet have endeavored to help my own children excel.  I know they have an appreciation of Math and of the way that it points to the Creator.

I am learning new things all of the time.  How glad I am that I am the one who gets to learn these things, right along with my children marveling as we go at the greatness of God!

It IS rather amazing how much we learn as we endeavor to teach someone else! I've found that to be true especially when dealing with Biblical truths. And I hope to keep on learning the rest of my life!

I, too, am learning how to make sense of all those things I never understood in school.
