Lots of things going on during this past week.   It was not only our first week of school, but we also came down with our first cold of the season.  Hopefully it will be our last! I am gearing up for the winter ahead, since this caught me off-guard.  I'm stocking up on all of my mixtures and remedies ready for the flu season to hit...

In other news, we had a great first week.  Everybody was excited (mostly) about doing schoolwork again, and everybody was very diligent to get their work finished.  I did give them a bit of an incentive.  Each day their work is complete, they receive a sticker.  If each day of the month has a sticker, they will receive a certificate that entitles them to free candy at our new favorite candy shop - Powell's Sweet Shoppe.  Powell's offers this program free of charge to the parent or teacher who wants to offer it to their children.  So far, it is working pretty well....check it out!  http://www.powellsss.com/go/index.cfm/sweet-programs/

I do think my children are sweet enough already, but candy just rocks!  Let's hear it for school!!!!

Glad you've begun the school year. Hope everyone recovers soon. I'll pray for continued healing for Charity's kidneys. And I'll remind my kids not to wear underwear on their head for the first day of school (I thought that was a riot!)

This is Sue Peterson, from LPCH - mom to Mackenzie...I was just catching up on some blog reading and saw your reference to Powell's. We have a Powell's in Chico - it is one of my favorite stores! I love that they have all the "old-time" candy from when I was little! :) Glad to hear things are going well with Chastity and that school is back in session at your home!
