This and That

Quote of the Day: A man with a sense of humor doesn't make jokes out of life; he merely recognizes the ones that are there. -unknown

Well, here's the situation. The step-son in question may-- possibly-- come here for our closer supervision. It's still unsettled at the moment.

As for the prayers, I have realized that I myself need to pray about this situation more... or atleast more consistently. While I pray, I usually pray about the "big things" in life (nuclear proliferation, global warming, etc.) and leave the management of my daily affairs to myself. That big stuff really weighs on me sometimes and prayer helps-- I know, a lot of people don't worry about it but I guess I'm just a worrier. I try to follow Biblical principle when making my personal decisions, but I rarely pray over them. I think I need to put more direction into that area of my life!

A few minutes ago I went to www.pez.com and printed out a list of all of the pez dispensers my kids can collect. Now they have a checklist! Isn't that neat?

By the way, I should mention here that my stepson moved his pet rabbit into the very large (7 ft x13 ft) cage which once housed our small chicken flock. He was tired of seeing his bunny in a teeny-tiny wire cage on the patio. I warned him that the floor of the chicken coop fencing was just dirt and that the rabbit would get out, but he wanted the poor bunny to have some freedom of movement. I admire him for that. Well, the bunny was found, deceased (bitten around the neck by a dog) on the trail to my mother's house the next morning. At least he had a few good hours, I hope!  We also lost our goat of 8 years, Modoc. He passed away a few weeks ago and my husband buried him at the bottom of the pasture. He was an awesome animal, and I already miss him. We only have two goats left now!

The kids had a great trick'or'treating time on Halloween. They were dressed as a pteradactyl and a tiger. It was a cold night, but the rain held off until the next day. The worst part: I forgot to take their picture! Baby Hampster stayed home with grandma.

I had relatives staying here Sunday through Wednesday. My dear father, Norman, who took a train 300 miles to visit us, and my Aunt Claudia and Uncle Wayne who are very special to me, drove up here from southern California. Norman and Wayne are brothers, so they got to have a nice visit together too, plus I got to meet my father's new guide dog, Flyer. It was a really nice time.
