A Day of Sewing and More...

Posted in Clothed for a King

Saturday was a pretty busy day for us,

but somehow I managed to get my new jumper started and finshed.

I sewed as much as I could in between defrosting the upright freezer,

making three meals, changing numerous amounts of diapers, cleaning here and there,

doing a few loads of laundry, checking emails, helping hubby occasionally,

giving baths to three children, talking to my mother on the phone,

and spending some time with the children... phew! But I still finished it! Yeah!

I bought enough of the material (I hope)

to make all four of us girls matching dresses/jumpers.

As I was working on my jumper,

Keeper2Be and I brought out my old sewing machine to see if it still had life... it did!

So Keeper2Be spent some time experimenting with the different stitches.

Dad took time out of his busy workload to snap a few photos of us...

After a day of sewing and many other miscellaneous things,

I was thankful we didn't have any unexpected company. *ά*

There was a nice scattered pile of strings and scraps laying around.

But we did finish our projects and we had a special time of sewing together.

Here is what Keeper2Be decided to do with her sewing time...

She made a stitch sampler...

She enjoyed seeing all the different stitches

and was trying to determine which were her favorites.

Here is a photo of Keeper2Be and I today, after church.

She is wearing the one she made recently

and I am wearing the jumper that I made yesterday .

It was a busy day in the HsKubes' Home.

Have a blessed Lord's Day everyone.

Posted by Shereen

You both look so cute. I'm so silly, I've never thought about mixing fabric like that. I normally just leave my daughter's jumpers all the same color. That's such a great idea. Thank you.
My daughter just started her own blog. I told her that if she wants to look through a blog, she has to give me the name first, so that I can read through the blog first, before she reads through it. I was so surprised when I go to check the blog that she wanted me to read, it was your daughter's blog. lol I thought that was so funny.
Then, later on in the evening, I was explaining to my beloved what a coincidence it was that Kayla found your dd's blog. Then I hopped on to show him your blog, and we came across the pictures of the deck your beloved made. We were so impressed. As you know, we are in the process of our first home improvement project. When he saw your deck, he said, wow, that's on a completely different level. lol He also saw the pictures of you guys making your pizza, and he said we need some new traditions. For now we just have some homemade bread Friday evenings.
I will be trying my Regency gown in cotton as well, so I am happy to hear that I am not the only one. YAY!!

Oh, y'all look so cute. I love the jumpers. You did a great job. And thanks for the information on the walking stick. I'll have to pass that information on to my kids and send them out in the woods to see if they can find one. If they do, I'll let you know. :)

Titus 2:3-5

3 "The aged women likewise,
that they be in behaviour
as becometh holiness,
not false accusers,
not given to much wine,
teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach
the young women
to be sober,
to love their husbands,
to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste,
keepers at home,
good, obedient
to their own husbands,
that the word of God
be not blasphemed."

Proverbs 31:10-31

10 "Who can find
a virtuous woman?
for her price is
far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband
doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have
no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good
and not evil
all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool,
and flax,
and worketh willingly
with her hands.
14 She is like
the merchants' ships;
she bringeth her food
from afar.
15 She riseth also
while it is yet night,
and giveth meat
to her household,
and a portion
to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field,
and buyeth it:
with the fruit of her hands
she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins
with strength,
and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that
her merchandise is good:
her candle goeth not
out by night.
19 She layeth her hands
to the spindle,
and her hands
hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out
her hand to the poor;
yea, she reacheth forth
her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of
the snow for her household:
for all her household
are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself
coverings of tapestry;
her clothing is
silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known
in the gates,
when he sitteth
among the elders
of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen,
and selleth it;
and delivereth girdles
unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour
are her clothing;
and she shall rejoice
in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth
with wisdom;
and in her tongue
is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well
to the ways
of her household,
and eateth not
the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up,
and call her blessed;
her husband also,
and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters
have done virtuously,
but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful,
and beauty is vain:
but a woman
that feareth the LORD,
she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit
of her hands;
and let her own works
praise her in the gates."
