Regency Gown Beginnings...

It seems that lately all I've blogged about here was food.

Not that food is a bad thing, but it's nice to be able to have another kind of project.

Well, Keeper2Be and I were finally able to begin working on her regency gown Saturday.

We've encountered a few 'difficulties' with the pattern

and we've had to adjust the bodice neckline and arm holes.

It's been a little challenging but we hope to have figured it out.

Keeper2Be has done quite a bit of tracing and cutting.

Another good reason to trace your pattern... just in case you have to make adjustments later.

 

Here is Keeper2Be cutting out her adjusted bodice...

 

 

As I waited for the new pieces, I continued sewing my own jumper...

 

 

Multitasking is great!

 

After Keeper2Be was finished cutting, I worked at putting the bodice back together...

 

Pinning something that is gathered and on a curve is always "interesting".

 

While I pinned and sewed the bodice back,

Keeper2Be ironed my new jumper skirt...

 

 

We were able to get most of my jumper finished

and were able to get most of Keeper2Be's bodice back finished.

It's always challenging figuring out a new pattern.

 

Here is her bodice back so far...

 

 

I think she picked a beautiful blue for her fabric.

 

We hope to work on this dress throughout the week and in between homeschooling.

Oh, you're making me nervous. I am still pretty new to sewing. I hope I don't need to adjust anything on mine. (I can dream, right) ;0) So far it looks great. Yes, I agree, she picked such a pretty blue fabric for the dress. I hope you are able to keep us updated as you go. They didn't have the roll of tracing paper at Joanne's, so I purchased something else for now. I'm sorry for all the questions, but I saw Ally using the rotary cutter. Do you find it easier to cut out your pattern with the rotary cutter. I've been using scissors all this time. I tried once with the rotary cutter, but I felt my hand was too shaky. lol Maybe I should try again. I have a good size mat, so it shouldn't be a problem. One more question. Last one for today, I promise, lol. I know you mentioned in one of the comments you left me about taking the children to the pool. Do the girls wear regular bathing suits, if not, where do you get yours from. Kayla just put shorts, etc., over hers. But I wasn't sure what to do. Thanks for always patiently answering me. lol ;0)

Titus 2:3-5

3 "The aged women likewise,
that they be in behaviour
